Mouse Lft Clk not working since upgrade to Mountain Lion

Can anyone help please? Yesterday i purchased Mountain Lion, upgrade upgraded my iMac 27, my Air and my old Mac Book Pro, the Air and iMac seem fine but the Mac Book pro is not. I use a Bluetooth mouse ( as the track pad is broken) and while it works fine before Mountain Lion loads when its loaded the "left Click' does not work! I've tried 3 different Mice all the same and as i said if i press Alt at boot the mouse is jut fine running the tools. The track pad is set to be disabled if it senses a mouse and this was working ok in Lion.

Going to restore Lion from a back up but just wondered if I'm alone here.

Harry.

This is likely a conflict with some 3-rd party s/w you have on the MBP but not the other two computers. Have a look in here

 > System Preferences.. Users & Groups | Login Items

Is there something in here that's not in the same list on the other Macs? If so, try removing it and restarting your computer. If that solves the problem, try contacting the developer to see if there's an update.

If that doesn't solve the problem, go through your other 3rd party apps and look for updates on all of them. One of them is stopping your mouse from working properly.

There won't be a patch because the problem is local to your machine. If you want to fix it, you'll have to diagnose the cause of the problem. Here's a simple thing to do to start with:

Go to

 > System Preferences.. Users & Groups

and create a new user account. Login to that account and test the mouse. Does the mouse work proplerly now? If yes, then you need to find out which of your apps in your normal account is causing the conflict. We can help you with that, but you have to work with us to find the answer.

I just had the same experience on my Mid-2011 MacBook Air, left mouse click on my trackpad and USB mouse failed to work even after restarting. The PRAM reset seems to have fixed the problem though and yes it's a Mountain Lion upgrade I performed on the day of release. Not sure why it took so long to happen though

When it first happened, I just shut the lid and opened and it was fine. Then it kicked in again and I couldn't recover until the PRAM reset.

I had the same issue - left-click not working on new Apple mouse. I could still move the mouse and use the secondary click. My problem was solved when I checked my bluetooth settings and found that my Mac Pro was picking up another wireless mouse in the office. Once I disconnected, the issue was resolved and the mouse worked fine again.

TLDR: Make sure you are not wirelessly connected to a bluetooth mouse if you cannot get your hardwired mouse to left-click.
