Mouse Lft Clk not working since upgrade to Mountain Lion

from my side, everything works on my MBP. Is that a Magic Mouse or different vendor. Is the mouse visible under Bluetooth devices as connected device. Pretty sure you tried, but try to re-connect it.

This is likely a conflict with some 3-rd party s/w you have on the MBP but not the other two computers. Have a look in here

 > System Preferences.. Users & Groups | Login Items

Is there something in here that's not in the same list on the other Macs? If so, try removing it and restarting your computer. If that solves the problem, try contacting the developer to see if there's an update.

If that doesn't solve the problem, go through your other 3rd party apps and look for updates on all of them. One of them is stopping your mouse from working properly.

There won't be a patch because the problem is local to your machine. If you want to fix it, you'll have to diagnose the cause of the problem. Here's a simple thing to do to start with:

Go to

 > System Preferences.. Users & Groups

and create a new user account. Login to that account and test the mouse. Does the mouse work proplerly now? If yes, then you need to find out which of your apps in your normal account is causing the conflict. We can help you with that, but you have to work with us to find the answer.

I just had the same experience on my Mid-2011 MacBook Air, left mouse click on my trackpad and USB mouse failed to work even after restarting. The PRAM reset seems to have fixed the problem though and yes it's a Mountain Lion upgrade I performed on the day of release.Not sure why it took so long to happen though

When it first happened, I just shut the lid and opened and it was fine. Then it kicked in again and I couldn't recover until the PRAM reset.

Okay that is only a temporary fix cause it just started happening again. *** is going on? It's like for the first 2 seconds the click will work then it's stuck on click down!

Alright I've found the potential trigger.

As soon as I log in to my laptop the pointer is fine, however, as soon as I use Command + Tab to switch windows, the left mouse click stops working.

I've recreated it twice today already and it only seems to happen within a small window of maybe 5 seconds after unlocking my laptop.

This is still an issue with my laptop and is beomcing more frequent. It's like when I open my MacBook Air the mouse is already selected then locked in that position. Whatever the mouse is hovering over when the screen unlocks get's selected and stuck with the mouse.

PRAM reset DOES NOT fix the problem, it only belays the issue.

Same problem here with a 3 month old MacBook Air. I have found that closing the lid and re-opening will allow the mouse click to work again about 90% of the time.

I had the same issue - left-click not working on new Apple mouse. I could still move the mouse and use the secondary click. My problem was solved when I checked my bluetooth settings and found that my Mac Pro was picking up another wireless mouse in the office. Once I disconnected, the issue was resolved and the mouse worked fine again.

TLDR: Make sure you are not wirelessly connected to a bluetooth mouse if you cannot get your hardwired mouse to left-click.

Had the same issue. Spent 20 mins resetting the pram and clearing the smc amongst other things. Closed the lid, reopened now working fine. 2012 summer MBA.
