imovie 08 not working???

Hi I have imovie 08 and now when I try and use titles it automatically quits and has done this about 30 times in the last 2 days and I was wondering is it doing this because I need to update to iMovie 11 or is something just wrong altogether? Anyhelp would be most welcome thanks Billy 🙂
