After install - "transmission is trying to modify the system network"

After the install finished, the error "transition is trying to modify the system network" popped up and it required my admin password.

I hit cancel and the new OS seeminly started up just fine. Anybody know what this was about? Did cancelling it not allow some important change be made that may affect the system?

I did a google search and not a single result came up for this, strangely.

There was another similar request for authorization but I forget what that one was. That's the last time I install an OS half asleep at 3 am!

I had exactly the same thing. I did put in my password and it all seems to be working fine, but now I'm worrying that it might have been a virus or something. Has anyone else had this?

Do you have the app Transmission installed? I forgot I had it. Strange that it wouldnt show the icon of the app (and the "transmission" wasnt capitalized like the app name). Everything seems to be working well still. It did give me pause and I thought it was really weird, so I didnt allow it. But what the heck was it? I still cant find anything online.

No, I don't have any such app, so I think that the name must just be a coincidence.

I had the same experience. It's "transition" not "transmission". I clicked on "Cancel". After the installation, connecting to this iMac for file sharing is unreliable, and Back to my Mac doesn't work at all so far. I wonder if this is related to the network modifications that I did not OK.

Yeah, you're completely right. Typo and I just went with it! Wish I could change the Subject now.

That said, this is a problem now. The error didnt seem Apple-like AT ALL and was a strange placement for it, IMO.

Could you please tell us the steps we can try on our end to test to see if any of us are affected?

I cancelled out of both dialogue boxes, and my computer seems fine so far, although I've hardly used it. The other two computers I updated today didn't give me these popups.

I suspect it has to do with /usr/libexec/transition, which seems to have something to do with the MobileMe => iCloud transition. That's just a guess though. I put this and a bit more information up at http://www.clarke.ca/post.cfm/transition-is-trying-to-modify-the-system-network- configuration .
