No USB keyboard or WiFi after Mt Lion Upgrade

Since upgrading to mountain lion from the latest version of Lion, I no longer have USB or Wifi support it seems. My 2008 mac pro doesn't recognise when I plug anything except a additional wired mouse, and I can only get that to work if its plugged in at boot. Also the second mouse is extremely laggy and is almost impossible to click on anything. I can still use my keyboard to get into verbose/single user/ reset pram on boot, but after that both the main OS and recovery are useless. The only error I see is when I use single user mode. After the OS has loaded after a couple of minutes I get some text on screen that says IOUSBfamily is having trouble on port 2 (where my keyboard is plugged in) This is driving me crazy. I did make a backup and I have a spare hdd in my mac pro with lion on it, and am still able to boot into that and everything works fine.

Is anyone else having this kind of problem, and is there anyway to remedy it?

Here are my specs

Mac Pro 2008 2.8ghz

ati 2600 xt (boot + secondary monitor)

ati 6870 (primary monitor 1900*1200)

8 gig of ram

HDD slot 1: mountain lion/Applications running on 128gb ocz SSD

HDD slot 2: users are located on a 1 TB HDD

I've tried disconneting all USB ports, removed extra hdd's, dvd drives, graphics cards and nothing works.

I have exactly same problems with my 2008 Mac Pro. No USB, No Wifi and wont boot from a USB or CD.

I too have really laggy wired mouse ( not and apple one, apple keyboard and mouse wont work at all ) even in the boot installer. Its like the USB drivers dont support my machine.

I have managed ( many hours of slowly moving mouse and tabbing where its still supported ) to format the disk and the installer from recovery partition is now downloading again.

Yeah I could only get the mosue to work plugged into the front port as well. I use "mobile mouse" on my iphone, I was hoping that I could use that as a keyboard and to navigate, but thats when I discovered that my airport card wasn't registering either. I have a apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse as well, but it can't discover those either.

I tried copying the IOUSBfamiliy.kext from my 10.7.4 HDD over, repaired permissions while booted into 10.7.4 on my 10.8 ssd. Rebooted and now no USB works whatsoever, so rolling back is not a solution for me at least.

When I get home from work I will try installing a fresh copy on a blank HDD and see what happens.

I have the same problem !!! It's crazy, I spend all day try to install Mountain Lion from Mac App Store and nothing work. After upgrade from latest Lion I see login screen without cursor, mouse not responding and Apple USB Keyboard too... I cant login...

I try with Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard, but Bluetooth is disable or not working (in Lion before installation i use mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth).

I try via USB Logiteh LX3 mouse and Apple USB Keyboard - not working...

Wi-Fi not working too, the same problem like.

When USB mouse is connect after about 5 minutes on login screen (clock work and i see minutes changeing in top corner) cursor showiing up but keyboard still not working and I cant write password... Madness!!!

It's very serious, almost everyone with Mac Pro 3,1 (early 2008) have the same problem with USB devices and I/O !!!! Apple please do something !!! or I will stay with Lion and fight for money back... It's not right - in specification of Mountain Lion Mac Pro early 2008 still is on the list...

I try install via Mac App Store but problem shows...

After this I recover via Time Machine OS X Lion 10.7.4 - everything work properly than...

After I try install clean copy via USB stick, but when I try boot after 1 ~ 2 minutes Apple logo change to crossed circle and nothing happend...

So my last shot... I try to clean install via online recovery but thanturnedoutin Recovery Wi-Fi not working (shows info that Wireless card not installed but there is inside MAc Pro) so I moved all equipment to acces point and connected via ethernet cable... I hoped thal will solve my problem and I will have Mountain Lion today... but when I open online recovery I had to type Apple ID !!!! but USB keyboart not workin too in recovery mode !!!!!!! grrrrr

I calmed down and I try typing my Apple ID and password by copy and paste by one letter from texts in Mountain Lion instalator using mouse right click... big problem was @... but I found in license...

So it worked, Mountain Lion online recovery finished and I see country list... USB mouse is responding to movment but cursor shows static (not rotate) rainbow circle and USB Apple Keyboard not working... I can'tgo even one step of the wizard...I try many reboots but nothing help...

Obviously there is something wrong with the installation of Mountain Lion because, after returning from a Time Machine to 10.7.4 everything is working properly !

Apple do somethingquickly, baceuse we - Pro users very need our machines to be perfect. It'sa matter to be or not be in professional work!

My machine configuration:

MacPro 3,1 (early 2008)

2 x 2,8GHz Intel Xeon

8GB RAM (800MHz) DDR2 FB-DIMM

ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB of GDDR5

AirPort Extreme

Bluetooth - standard

Now I scared to install Mountain Lion on my iMac middle 2011 (iMac11,3) I don't have any time to lose...

I use one of 4 HD disk in Mac Pro for Time Machine, So I do not have to use Wi-Fi or USB disk for Time Machine it's faster way... USB Mouse is working for me in 10.8 Recovery Mode but Keyboard not, so only by clicking choose option to recovery from latest backup in 10.7.4...

If you have the same problem with USB or Wi-Fi and you use Time Capsule or USB disk for Time Machine... than you have a big problem :/

Folks, call to Apple Support - they take your notification, if you pay for OS X Mountain Lion in Mac App Store you can have support for this software.

I called today and they accepted my notification, if you call too they faster repair this problem baceuse it's looks like bigger problem when more than one person have the same symptomswith MacPro3,1.
