Interesting.  I installed XCode 3.2.6 on a fresh install of 10.6.x.  Set back the date and removed the iPhone components. Then upgraded to 10.7 and then 10.8.  I wonder if it makes a difference if you install 10.8.2 and then install XCode 3.2.6?  Anyway am on the way out of town so won't be able to experiment until next week.

I have a OSX 10.8.2 install, that I attempted to copy and run IB.  It stal fails after trying all these suggestions.  Is there something else I might be missing?  My error is simple, it seems that IB can not find DevToolsKit.framework.  I have that installed in: /Developer/Library/PrivateFrameworks

It appears that it's failing because @rpath is not getting resolved correctly.  Any thoughts?

Xcode is a self-contained application now.

There is no need for the /Developer folder.

Yeah - I have the same problem. Trying to get XCode 3.2.6 running nicely on 10.8.2, as I also have a number of AppleScript studio projects to maintain, but no time to migrate them all to ASObjC.

I already had Xcode 4.6 installed (possibly a mistake), but then followed the instructions here:

Everything installed fine, everything launches fine - however when I compile I get a similar error (see below). In addition I get plugin warnings when opening NIBs in interface builder.

Be interested to know if someone has *** projects working great in XCode 3.2.6 on 10.8.2 (or 10.8.3!)

    StripNIB English.lproj/MainMenu.nib

    cd "/Volumes/Downloads/Local Work/SVN/Image Uploader 10.8"

    /Developer/usr/bin/ibtool --strip "/Volumes/Downloads/Local Work/SVN/Image Uploader 10.8/build/Release/Image" --output-format human-readable-text "/Volumes/Downloads/Local Work/SVN/Image Uploader 10.8/English.lproj/MainMenu.nib"
