app to view vcd?

Hi, I have a VCD that QuickTime 7.0.4 does not open. The VCD has files that appear mostly as .dat and .vcd. Is there an app (free?) that will allow playing on the panther Mac? (The VCD does play on our DVD player hooked up to our analog TV.) Thank you.

Is there another app than VLC that will work with VCD on a B & W (G3 400 MHz)? VLC does indeed start well on this VCD, but about 1 minute into it, the VCD stops. Error message VLC gives is that the CPU is too slow. The VCD has a few "tricks" in it, like images turning into blocks and fading away, which probably demand even more of a CPU. The VCD works fine on our home DVD. Solutions? Is this a buffer issue that VLC can deal with? I didn't see a fix on their website. Thanks.
