The apple stocks app crashes every time I check the price of NXPI, but okay for other stock codes. Strange.

I noticed the very same thing! I deleted NXPI from the list and added again - but this did not help.
I can't even get the app open long enough to remove nxpi. :(. Any ideas?
Launch the app and tap other stock code immediately after. Or put the phone in portrait mode to avoid the crash. It may temporary avoid crashing.

How about landscape mode. Sorry, portrait mode was a typo. I meant landscape.

Ok---I opened the app with my phone held
In landscape mode then just the charts came
Up-- I swiped to choose another stock besides
NXPI and it unstuck the app.

Turn on airplane mode before u open de stock app. That worked for me.
