I just installed Mountain Lion and Pages 4.2. In the open dialog for pages with iCloud highlighted, I dragged a pages doc to the dialog box. It looks like it works since there is now an icon in the Pages dialog box with the correct file name. BUT it has a little cloud icon and "Waiting" under the document icon. I can open this document on my iPad, but I can NOT open it in Pages on my iMac. OS is 10.8.

Sorry, I should have typed, I can NOT open the document in Pages on the Mac.

Have you registered your Mac for iCloud? Probably in your System Preferences.

Yes. One note that the iMac Pages Open dialogue box no longer has the little iCloud icon with the word Waiting next to it. Now just the date for the document. However, it still won't open.

The open dialog in Pages on your Mountain Lion Mac should look like this screenshot. The file I have selected was originally created on this Mac & uploaded via iCloud.com & has been opened & edited several times on my iPhone. I had no problems opening any of these in Pages on my iMac just now.

Well, I sure do. But thanks for your comments. Why is the mac picking on me? :-)

My screen looks exactly like yours, btw.

I'm confused (not unusual). You said the cloud icon was missing but then you said your screen looks like mine. There is a little cloud to the left of the word iCloud.

What exactly happens when you select a document & then click the open button?

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. My previous message was regarding a cloud icon that was immediately under the document icon where the date now is in the first screen shot below. I wasn't referring to the iCloud in the upper left. Here are screen shots of what I see. The top one is the dialog box and the bottom image is when I double click on the document's icon or select it and click on open.

It looks like that document is corrupt. I've had that happen. Do you have another device you could try to open it on like an iPhone or iPad?

Now that iCloud syncing is part of the Mac OS, cloud documents are stored in a mobile documents folder in your user Library & you may be able to recover an older copy using Time Machine.

It opens fine on my iPad. Also, tried other documents. Probably 4 others. None worked. I deleted everything I had on the iCloud web site and in this window, which btw did not have the same documents for some reason. Then I put just this one simple and small file in there to test with. It works fine on iPad and iPhone but not on iMac.

Can you try e-mailing to yourself? There are obviously a lot of issues that are new & will take some time to figure out.

Good idea. And it worked fine. I emailed it to myself from the iMac Pages Open File dialog box. When I received it in mail and double clicked on it, Pages opened it without a problem.

I tried opening it again from the pages Open File dialog box, just for chuckles. It still doesn't work.

Now replace the troublesome one with the e-mailed one.

OK, I downloaded it to the downloads folder. Then dragged to the Pages Open File Dialog box. Same problem occurred when I tried to open it.

I'm confused again. I've never dragged anything into an open dialog box. I would open the working copy from e-mail & then save it to the cloud. Or click on the title & choose "move to iCloud."
