Q: OS X Mountain Lion only boots in safe mode!

My MBP had OS X Lion on it and yesterday when OS X Mountain Lion came out I bought it. I downloaded it and installed it. When the computer was booting up after installation the computer kept restarting again and again and was not ready to come to the login screen. I held down the power button and turned it off. I turned it on again and it still didn't work. I held down the shift key while turning on and it did boot in safe mode on Mountain Lion! I tried checking lots of stuff on the internet and nothing worked. Multibeast was not ready to install, I resetted the PRAM, downloaded VooDoo Loader, changed the com.apple.Boot.plist file, and it still didn't work! I don't know what to do now. Also I tried holding down option key while startup and I select Macintosh HD and still doesn't work. Turned on safe mode again and tried changing startup disk and says "Building boot caches on boot partition failed." Can somebody please help me?

It's not just ML. Todays 10.7.5 update now gives me the same boot loop. Even if I use an eternal HDD. I have to revert to 10.7.4.

With the correct firmware on a M4 - Revision 309 - I am unable to install ML. The restart boot keeps failing and looping. But I can get in via Safe Boot.

Crucial advises: The accumulation of 'junk' data from file deletions, even reformats, basically clogs up the drive and reduces or sometimes even halts performance and can even dismount the drive. A secondary feature called Garbage Collection activates when the drive is powered, but has no data throughput, for an extended period, and does background cleanup on our SSDs which can make up for the lack of TRIM.

Crucial recommend leaving the machine idle in Startup Manager (hold down Alt/Option key at chime) for 8 -24 hours to allow "Garbage Collection" to do its job. So I'll try this.

Well. I gave it 16 hours in Startup Manager mode (ssd garbage collection runs hot) and it did not change the startup loop kernel thing. But now maybe with a clean install (zzzzzzz) it will go back to normal... .

There seems to be an improvement after Garbage Collection. I reinstalled the 10.7.5 combo update (something I had tried twice before without improvement) and the machine is now behaving normally. (Though 'may still do a clean install for ML.)
