Can't select snooze time in ical events

In Lion, the notificacion of ical event give the option to snooze it in 15min, 30min, 1 hour before, etc. Now in Mountain Lion, all ical notification goes trought notification center. The thing is that now it only shows me the option "snooze" but it doesnt give an option to snooze it in "....". Any one knows a fix to this?

Thanks

Before you buy BusyCal, though, it's important to note that the new version, 2.0, uses Mountain Lion's Notifications feature and so it has the SAME PROBLEM as Apple's Calendar in regard to the snooze. The only difference is that you can set your own default snooze length, but can't adjust it after the fact event by event as we all wish.

If you want a more usable snooze, you have to get the old BusyCal, 1.6, which can still be bought:

if Apple does not correct the problem of the snooze in Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I propose to make an Internet site which will enable us to send automatically an e-mail of complaint at Apple every 15 minutes.

Perhaps they will thus understand the silly thing concerning their snooze.
What do you think of this idea?

I’ve come to the opinion they are not going to fix it the snooze issue. Therefore, I’ve moved on to Lightning. This free calendar app, which works with the free Thunderbird email program, seems to be functioning well for me. I’ve read on this thread that they’re stopping support of Lightning but I would presume it would continue to work, albeit without any updates. Having said that, an updated version of Lightning was available last week, which I applied successfully. After installing it a couple of months ago I was able to import my iCal events to it via the .ics files I created from iCal. Taking Leo LaPorte’s advice I also created a Google Calendar, again free, and imported my .ics files to it, also. Disabling iCloud, I’m able to sync these calendars after adding and enabling the Google Calendar in iCal’s preferences. For whatever reason, I believe Apple has abandoned the user-definable snooze feature forever and iCal has gone from being an invaluable tool to an extreme annoyance. Very sad. I know several people have recommended BusyCal 2 and it looks very promising; I just don’t want to spend the money if I don’t have to, even at the reduced price of $30. But I may switch to it if Lightning is unavailable in the future. I should note that I only have one device, a MacBook Pro. I think an iPad and iPhone would probably be able to sync to the Google Calendar, since that was Leo LaPorte’s point when explaining how he syncs up his devices, including a Samsung Galaxy S3.

I've been using the BusyCal 2's snoozable alerts for a while in place of Notification Center.

It works great on a single Mac, but I wouldn't recommend it on a setup with two or more Macs using the same iCloud calendar. The snoozes don't get synced properly across the Macs and you end up with error messages and/or duplicate events that get almost as annoying as the Notification Center popups.

I just updated to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard and have the same problems with the new calendar notifications. I want it to run like the old calendar where you can sleep the alert for varying amounts of time I choose. Especially for alerts like wifes birthday which I set 2 weeks ahead. I don't want to have to keep snoozing it every 15 or 30 minutes for 10 days or whatever.

Apple really seems to be dropping some balls lately. It took me awhile just to learn the new ways around in iTunes after a recent upgrade. Apple used to be more intuitive.

I too gave BusyCal a try, and am very happy to have the ability to customize my snooze alerts. It was a seamless set-up, importing my many Apple calendars, so there was no down time or learning curve. Only downside is that I've lost the ability to create events directly from emails, as I was able to do with iCal (or Calendar). I would prefer to use Apple's Calendar, but I am too dependent on flexible snooze alerts to use it. If snooze alerts are an issue for you, try BusyCal's free 30-day demo. If you don't like it, you can go right back and use Calendar, no harm done.
