Q: Can't select snooze time in ical events

In Lion, the notificacion of ical event give the option to snooze it in 15min, 30min, 1 hour before, etc. Now in Mountain Lion, all ical notification goes trought notification center. The thing is that now it only shows me the option "snooze" but it doesnt give an option to snooze it in "....". Any one knows a fix to this?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion

Same question here. I really used the various snooze times a lot.

Me too. Am full of loathing for the people who made this change at the moment. This completely dirupts my entire time management/workflow.

Me too! I was hoping snooze would be enhanced to Microsoft's Outlook level and, in fact, it's gone. Why do I put up with Apple's dumbed-down OS any more?

Im currently trying a bunch of different things to fix this. It's extremely disruptive to me also and makes Calendar almost unusuable for me. Very tempted to move to busycal now. If I find anything Ill let you know!

Same feedback.  Very annoying.  My snoooze seems to be 1/2 hour.  I usually set alerts for 2 days ahead then snooze for a day.  Can't do that now.  Not happy.

I was very excited to learn that Mountain Lion had brought back the calendar pane in iCal, since I was not going to upgrade my work Mac to Lion because of the many removed features to iCal and Mail.  So, I install ML on my home Mac, only to discover the calendar alert snooze had been "dumbed-down", as another poster appropriately called it.

It's one thing to strive to bring iOS and OS X closer together in terms of a consistent look/feel - it's another thing entirely to strip usefull features from a fully featured desktop application.  Shouldn't we expect more features and sophistication in our [desktop] operating systems as they mature, and not less...?  As a software developer myself, I know from experience that my users want *more* with each new release - more robustness, more features, more control over customization - and yet Apple is doing the opposite in many cases.  Mail and calendar applications are the workhorses of most people, with countless interactions with these systems daily, so even the slightest change in workflow can amount to a hugely frustrating experience in a short period of time.

I sure hope either Apple listens to it's users and fixes this with a patch, or someone comes up with a hack quickly.

Ditto to all your complaints. I would have even liked to see more options than Lion provided. I wanted to be able to set the 2 hour snooze to 3 hours, or 4. Why couldn't they have made it a user option. I have programs on my PC that allow that. Now, like all of you, I've discovered I've even lost the little bit of flexibility I enjoyed in Lion. Very disappointing. Is this something they might change with a software patch? I'm an old PC user and relatively new to Macs, so I don't know if that is a feasible option or if it would require a complete upgrade.

I agree. When I saw that iCal had been upgraded, I was hoping that they had added more snooze intervals or made it customizable rather than take options away. I hope Apple realizes this was not a helpful change and does something to patch it.

I have the same (return of) feature request.

I have noticed however many welcome improvements in iCal like the return of the side pane, the ability to base a new even on the calendar you had selected before, and generally I like the notification centre. I'm especially looking forward to some of my other productivity apps beginning to use it.

My guess is that the thinking behind this is if you have projects that are ongoing you'd use the Reminders app, and Calendar apps are just for at-the-time reminders. Want to sleep that a few hours? Add it to Reminders or make a later appointment in Calendars (there's actually a bit of crossover because Reminders can have alarms etc too).

Anyway like everyone here the Snooze functions were an important part of how I work, and I'm not appreciating hitting it again and again as I work instead of just choosing to be uninterrupted for two hours/a day. Hopefully this can return sooner than 10.9

This is my only issue with Mountain Lion. I used the iCal to set things out 8-9 days before they were needed and then would use the 1 day or 1 week settings as reminders leading up tp them. Now that's gone and iCal is useless to me.

I just found another bug. I have lots of reminders set to 1 min, 1 hour, 30 mins etc. as appropriate. On the upgrade to the new Calendar they've all been changed to the default 2 hours. Now they're all completely wrong.

This is a pain in the you-know-what as you have all said, and I have placed a feature request into Apple's OSX feedback page on this.  One "workaround", as poor as it is, is to click on the alert in question within the notification center, which will take you to the actual calendar entry.  From there you can reset the alert time without changing the time of the entry itself.
