Hard Drive Broken?

Hard Drive doesn't appear in Disk Utility, does this mean the Hard Drive is broken?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Do you have any external hard drives, USB sticks, etc, connected? If so, remove them and restart again. If not, then you should boot from a drive other than your internal one and run Disk Utility from there to see what's going on. Restart your Mac. When the "ding" sounds on restart, hold down Command and R. Your Mac will boot into the Recovery Partition, and let you run Disk Utility from there. See if your internal drive shows up and see if you can verify it. If it reports errors, then do a Repair Disk.
