http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 shows the printer is supported.
Thanks.
It seems that there isn't update to 10.8 on page.
BUT, I've installed the Mountain Lion ( On Lion 10.7.4 ) and my Printer works fine !
All without updating the 10.8 Brother Drivers...
So I Don't know if I need to update the Drivers now ? 😕
You're welcome.
The version numbers seem to need updating, but:
"This article is a comprehensive list of currently supported printer and scanner models and associated software provided by third-party vendors as of 5 July 2012."
I wouldn't update the drivers then, if your printer is already working.
I have downloaded the most up to date drivers for Brother MFC 7860DW with no success on duplex printing - oddly, this just affects Word & Excel ( office for Mac2011; updated ) Duplex printing does work from my email program or Safari. Running OS X 10.8 and I am baffled; any suggestions ? I have re-installed the drivers as well as Word and Excel.....
When you print in Word or Excel do you see the box in the lower left of the print dialogue box that says Show Details?
No - the print box is different in Word & Excel than from other programs - no show details box
Look in the Layout PDE for Two Sided.
newbie but learning - where do I find this - Printer Driver Extension ?
From printer settings; this is the message I get
A component necessary for the operation of your printer could not be located. Please reinstall your printer software from the Software CD-ROM.
I have re-installed from the CD as well as downloaded from the Brother site - they don't appear to be much help
It is under the Copies & Pages menu.
Unless I am totally missing something, I have no option to automatically set duplex printing under the Copies & Pages menu from the Word Print menu - I do have option to do this manually, but since my printer apparently supports auto printing, not the option I want......
Go to the Layout panel under the Copies & Pages menu and see if you have Two Sided.
Options are Two Sided - off ( no option to click on ? )
Long edge and short edge binding
Setting Two Sided to long edge or short edge turns duplex on.
SOLVED and so simple
