Major UI Lag in Logic Pro 9.1.7 on OS 10.8?

Hi,

I've just completed my first session in Logic 9.1.7 on a Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.6 after upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8. I got through it, but experienced the following new bug (as compared to running in Lion 10.7.4:

I noticed that if Logic is currently playing when I double click on a plugin in the channel strip, and then try to stop the playback (keyboard or by clicking the transport in the arrange window), I will get from a 5-45 second lag before the app responds and actually stops. No mouse or keyboard commands seem to work while it's hanging up.

Workaround: Only open plugin windows when playback is stopped, and then playing and stopping works fine (although maybe a little more laggy than in the former OS still).

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any better workaround ideas?

Same problem here too! I am running Logic Pro 9.1.7 and Mountain Lion on a MacBook pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Core 2 Duo) and when I open a plugin (e.g. the stock Logic EQ plugin) while my track is playing I get massive lag. I'll click to edit the EQ and it won't respond for around 30 seconds and then tries to catch up with the clicks that I made. If I stop the track by hitting stop on my control interface, the plug-in then responds as normal. This is a serious issue!

Thank you guys..I don´t think I´ll upgrade to ML right now. It will probably take Avid 3-6 month to "approve" ML anyway. I´ll hold my horses....But with Lion I really don´t experience this problem. Did a test in a rather demanding arrangement. During playback I opened Logic´s EQ and Waves H-EQ, with analyzer on, start-stop-start stop etc.

Works like a charm! So what is going on?...It´s like: When I open any bigger arrangement, two thirds through the song I will always get the system overload. I mean always! However from that point I don´t get system oveloads anymore.

Hmmm! Math or Magic?

I was seeing the same problem... I'm a new Logic user, switching from DP, and so it was a minty fresh install of Logic Pro 9.1.7 under ML.

It turned out to be a third party graphics driver that was screwing up some internal process: specifically, the dirver for AirDisplay, an iOS app that lets you use an iPad as a portable monitor. When I removed the driver, the problem cleared up instantly, and I have done 9 hour sessions in Logic since then without a single hiccup.

If you're running a third party driver, remove it, repair permissions and see if the problem clears up.
