    The copy of Logic in the drawer under my desk IS MINE. I own a copy of Logic. I don't care for the legalities of that statement because in many a manual it says 'congratulations on your new copy of XX software' but whether you want to take 'Owner' as 'Logic Contractee/License Owner' or 'Legal and Approved Logic Physical/Digital Copy Owner' it doesn't the fact that the license only exists as a digital equivalent to copyright that would prohibit you building your own Mac Pros from the design of one you bought from them.

    Here's what you said:

    "Another thing. This forum is not for Logic Users. It's for Logic Owners."

    Your statement as it is written is incorrect, period.

    And the fact that it is incorrect is why people have legitimate a claim against Apple for the manner in which the software does not function correctly with the most recent versions of OSX.

    In fact I imagine Apple knows this and will give a purchaser a refund if demanded.

    You want something useful? Use an external control surface - seems to break (most of) the curse.

    Nope, external controllers did not break the lag;

    the only cure was Snow Leopard for me.

    About the "Legal" discussion going on here,

    I can contribute positively saying this to who's thinking about actions:

    if you have an old machine you can go back to SL and solve the issue.

    If you bought a new mac, you simply can't, so if you have the issue your hardware+logic is useless and you have full rights to take any proper action;

    The truth is: no sane lawyer would consider this, you are talking about potentially burn a giant pile of cash.

    There's still no official news, or fix,

    we need to deal with it somehow and not use it as an excuse to stop producing..

    edit: typo

    They are deleted by System moderators who are not Applemen, but in fact closer to users like us.

    Pancenter,

    Who will refund us the hours invested in the deep learning curve?

    Is not the Software got rotten because it is old. Logic is not working as it was because Apple (not us) made it unusuable...

    We are not talking about a vacuum machine here I can exchange for a new one....

    Ask Apple, I'm not standing up for them, I'm just saying a refund is one of the options available, if you think you have a legal case against Apple by all means go for it.

    Let me say this having worked professionally many, many years and on several software platforms.. If you make a living off of Apple Hardware and Software, you are NEVER using the most recent versions until they've been vetted and found to be reliable.  Personally, I never upgrade the OS, unless there's something that's going to make my professional life better. I use SL and Logic 9.1.3 because it works very well. What's more important, the latest greatest OS.. pphhht.. who cares, the latest Logic, nope, what's important is what works.

    True, new purchasers are going to possibly have a problem (not everyone does) running 10.8.2, but no real Pro is going to run out and drop 3 or 4 grand on a new systems and the latest Logic unless they've seen it in action and it's been proven. If someone does jump in and expect everything to work, they're a rube!

    Apple is the owner of LA. Users purchase a license to use LA.

    Ethics my friend, market ethics...

    Anyway, I think you are missing a little, tiny, small point: TWO YEARS WITH A LAG PROBLEM A NO SOLUTION!!! AND NO APOLOGIZE!!! (But censorship of course...)

    If you are so vetted as u say, u should remember how Logic was improved in the two years previous to be sold to Apple...

    In computing TWO YEARS IS A LIFE!

    - NOT TRUE!  As a professional with a business I waited as long as I could but really had to upgrade my hardware in mid-2012.  I had waited many years already.  The few cryptic words from Tim Cook about upcoming hardware were, number one, so ambiguous, and, number two, projected far down the road.  I couldn't wait that long anymore.  My 2008 and 2009 laptops were underpowered for studio work and my G5 was non-intel.  I had to put in a purchase, and ended up buying the mid-2012 Mac Pro.  When it arrived I discovered from tech staff that Snow Leopard could not be installed! So basically Apple forced me to install either Lion or ML, and I'd heard such awful things about Lion.  Thus began 8 months of constant tech support.  I don't think I've been a rube at all.  I think I was left in a very awkward position by Apple on both a hardware and software level.  AND, I don't think there's much point in complaining about it.

    Regarding all of the little fixes that folks have suggested, I have tried nearly all of them.  They all seem to work for a little while, but the lag problem itself is sporadic and sometimes disappears for days at a time, so it's hard to say if any of them are actually working.  For me, at least, the lag always returns.

    Yesterday I was working on a new composition.  I usually use my voice but have a cold so had loaded up 3 Kontakt instruments.  That's all.  No audio.  Just 3 Kontakt instruments.  I had as well 3 compressors (Logic) 3 Channel Eqs, 1 Valhalla Room, 1 Space Designer and Adlimiter.  First of all, even on such an incredibly bare composition, Logic just isn't snappy.  There are small lags in the UI constantly, which are absolutely workable.  But at one point I made the "mistake" of opening EQ while the song was playing to eq a piano and I experienced over 2 minutes of lag.  I tried all the things people have suggested - right clicking the Logic icon in the dock and re-choosing the song - making an adjustment to an external midi contoller connected to the computer.  I ended up just sitting with my hands folded trying to keep the idea in my head.
