Voice Dictation breaks after using Chrome/LastPass

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but whenever I use Google Chrome and I sign into LastPass (a Google Chrome extension), the voice dictation in OS X Mountain Lion no longer works. The steps to reproducing this problem are as follows:

First ensure that voice dictation is enabled and working
Open Google Chrome
Sign into last pass
Double tap the function key -- at this point in time you'll receive the error tone. This makes voice dictation unavailable systemwide.
Close out Google Chrome -- voice dictation works across the machine including inside Google Chrome again.

It's really unfortunate that this isn't working. I found the voice dictation to a reliable and useful addition in OS X Mountain Lion.

I haven't tried to reproduce the problem inside Safari, but Safari isn't my primary browser. Anyone else find that they're suffering from this as well?

+1 to this problem.

On another front, I found that LastPass also breaks a macro program called Keyboard Maestro. Hotkey shortcuts work, but typed string triggers are useless. Once I close chrome and reopen everything works fine.......until I log into LastPass again :-(

I am also having this problem. Dictation doesn't work again unless I restart my machhine.

Apple, any fixes planned??

quick update: it appear to be a Chrome+Lastpass combination that causes the problem. Safar+Llastpass is fine ...

Then I would be trying to seek the solution from Chrome and/or LastPass as it looks like they are not yet up to compatability with ML. Their site may give you the information you require.

I have spoken with LastPass support about this issue. They suspect the Chrome extension is "opening a secure input session" and not releasing it, which is interfering with other software that wants to interact with input systems, such as dictation, ShareMouse, macro programs, etc.

I have found this workaround for the time being:

Open chrome
Login to LastPass
Go to Wrench Icon -> Tools -> Extensions
Disabled LastPass extension
Immediately re-enable LastPass extension

This appears to release LastPass's hold on input. Depending on your LastPass configuration on retaining login state, this may not work for you. Rather than enabling/disabling, you could also close and re-open Chrome if LastPass will retain its login state across quit/re-open.
