Can you set a due date in Reminders on Mountain Lion?

I'm finding in Mavericks, the due date field in Reminders ver. 4.0 is wonky. I am only able to edit the month field, not day or year and no mini-cal is showing up. I got this result from creating the Automator / AppleScript described above and also using the third-party app Remind Me.

Further investigation shows that these newly created reminders with Due Dates (using the Automator script or with the Remind Me app) are not editable on my mac (OS X Sierra 10.12.5), but they are in iOS.

I agree. Oddly, when I installed Mountain Lion, I had a number of tasks in iCal that came into Reminders with the Due Date box and everything. The problem seems to be an inability to create new tasks/reminders with a due date. Instead, all I can do is create a Reminder at a certain time on a certain date but the Due Date check box never appears. Again, this is on new Reminders only.

After having created a reminder, click on the little ℹ that appears when you hover over the right side of the list.

Or, when creating a reminder, add the time and date, like this:

"Say Hello 6:32 pm today"

I was thinking you meant the reminder time.

However, having played with it a bit, you can trick it into a due date by setting the time before the current time, snooze the alert, then edit the Due date.

Ok, disregard. It worked several times, but now I can't get it to display the due date after snoozing.

Well, I figured once you had the due date field, you could just change it to a future date.

Exactly, that helped me. I used a previous "done" reminders I had with iCal with a due date. Then with a simple copy/paste of this model you can access again to the due date field for any new reminders.

I have that same concern. Apple, please bring back the DUE DATE in REMINDERS. Thank you!

I have discovered a workaround. The key is to create your reminders with a due date from within the calendar on iCloud.com. Once you do that, they should then appear in your Reminders apps with the due date option available alongside of the option to set an alert. I have detailed the process with screenshots on my blog:

I sure hope Apple makes an easier way to do this. I'm pretty disappointed in the Reminders app as it stands right now. Anyway, enjoy.

That certainly will work. The other workaround I found is to create reminders in Readdle's 2Do which I use on my iPad and iPhone. That solves the problem, too. Perhaps Apple will get this straightened out. The Reminders app as it stands now is pretty anemic.

I would suggest everyone hit the feedback page and make the suggestion. Since there is a Due date field, it only makes sense that it should always be available.

You can also type in the due date and time right in the reminder:

"Remind me to pick up milk at 8am on August 12th"

You'll see the reminder built for the 12th with just the words "Remind me to pick up milk"
