I like mountain lion and was thinking of updating but the whole reason i have my mac is for adobe and am not willing to lose it so i want to know if i update will adobe and other programs like microsoft office 2011 still work if i update my imac to mountain lion

I would NOT upgrade at this time. Most everyone is quoting the tests done at Roaring Apps website
Some of the Adobe suite - CS5 applications, for example - work, but some DON'T, and some work with issues involved. Give it some time, keep checking back for Adobe and or Apple updates to Mountain Lion, and when you get an "all clear" then update. Otherwise, you might be sorry.
