Cannot sign into Messages on Mountain Lion OSX

Keep getting "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." My password is correct and I've tried turning my iphone off and on as well as my Mac. I'm using my apple ID (same I use for app store, iTunes, everything I can think of). Everything else has synced totally fine; I can use reminders/notes/etc. on both my Mac and iPhone. Been working on trying to figure this out for about 2 hours now.

Hi,

I too would caution a wait (til at least America has gone to sleep and the iMessages servers can catch up)

I have booted into Safe Mode several times now, and that has not fixed the "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." error. Nor has reseting the automatic update of time and date.

Sigh.

This is what I get for upgrading to Mountain Lion on day of release. There are other little annoying quirks that need ironing out as well.

Hi,

Make the Finder the "Front" App

Use the Go Menu

Hold down the ALT key then select the Library that appears

Open Preferences.

Find com.apple.imservices.imessage.plist

Drag it to the Trash

Restart Messages.

Hi,

In Messages go to the Preferences > Accounts

Highlight the iMessage Account.

GO to the Account Details

Use the Sign Out Option.

Re-add th Apple ID (Like you were changing IDs)

If that does not work go to the Application/Utilities folder an launch Activity Monitor.
Close Messages

Find IMAgent in Activity Monitor and use the Quit Button

Confirm Force Quit.

Restart Messages.

OK.

Lets try poking it with a bigger stick

Go to the Preferences Folder again.

thins time drag com.apple.imagent.plist to the Trash.

Now Restart the Computer

The reason for this is that IMAgent launches on Computer Start up and you need to relaunch it to recreate a .plist form defaults listed in the app.

It will be a while before I pick up replies
