CanoScan LiDE200 scanner does not work. MP Navigator EX 2.0 keeps crashing.

Does not work now? Upgrade does not show any new drivers. The Canon site shows it is compatable with 10.8 but does not list any drivers.

I really need to use the scanner. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You could try removing the scanner from System Preferences/Print & Scan. Then add it back. It may be best to log out and then back in before adding it back. May or may not help.

I downloaded MP Navigator 2.0.6 from the Canon site:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan _lide200#DriversAndSoftware

I lied and said I had Lion because this software is not be listed under Mountain Lion. I had been running verson 2.0.4 and that had the crashing behavior you described.

(I also downloaded MP Navigator EX 2.0 Opener -- not sure if that made a difference).

Anyway after installing the new code, which triggered a reboot, all is well.

I was not happy with the Image Capture solution which produces a Jpeg. For document scans, I wanted the PDF option.

Thanks that works. Nice to have MP Navicator EX working again. It looks like Canon just posted driver and software for Mountaion Lion. I still had to download MP Navigator EX Ver. 2.0.6 (Mac OS X 10.2/10.3/... from the Lion drivers to get MP Navigator to work. Also had to change my security settings to open it as that version did not seem to be regisgtered with Apple.

Plastac-

I did what mradler suggested, but it didn't work. I trashed my old copy of MP Navigator, then reinstalled 2.0.6 from the LiDE200 Mac OS LION.

Why should I install 2.0.6 when 3.0.4 doesn't work?

Does anyone have any suggestions here?

I have a PIXMA MP600, not a CanoScan LiDE200, so mradler's links may not work for my scanner...

Unsure if this works on a MP600.

MP Navigator 3.0.4 never worked on my system. I even tried it after reinstalling 2.0.6 and it still crashed repeatedly while 2.0.6 worked as it used to.

Try installing the Mountain Lion driver update that Canon has just posted then trash MP Navigator and reinstall and restart. Hopefully that may get it up and running.

But once again, not sure if it works on a MP600... sorry :)

Update with Mac OS 10.8.2

http://www.usa.canon.com/nw3s/CanonUSA/DownloadContents/English/0200041018EN.htm

Update site does not work.

Must start at Canon site and go through all of the steps to get to the Lide 200 driver. If you do not you will not be able to select the “Accept” icon. Will have to change “Security and Privacy” setting in General System Preferences in OS 10.8.2 if “Allow applications downloaded from Anywhere” is not checked.

Disconnect the Lide 200 from the computer before doing the update.
