Hi,

Are you using the same ID on two computers using Mountain Lion ?

It seems to me that both apps will try to register the Apple ID involved when in fact one is just another device like an iOS device would be.

Apple also have this document

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5419

It seems to show a different Error message.

It could be that as everyone has been downloading Mountain Lion that the servers are busy.

Hi,

I thinks we are on the edge of the iMessages server limits at the moment.

I managed to iMessages my son's iPhone earlier but he sent me a reply which his phone says is delivered but it has not go to me yet.

(it's not helped by me changing the odd setting now and then to test something in relation to these Discussions)

HI,

There are two ways.

1) it can be the Apple ID you use to Open MesSages the first time

This Automatically makes it your iMessage Account and it will appear as the top item in Messages menu > Preferences > Accounts

If it is not here and you want it to be it can be changed but state that first and I will come back to it.

2) it is a valid AIM name

Still in Accounts press the + (Add) Button lower left

In the new pane chose AIM in the top item drop down.

Enter details

Click Done.

If you want Buddy list to show separately then let me know.

To have 2) work the password from your @me.com name has to be 16 characters or Less as this is the limit the AIM servers can work with.

I was getting a server error with my appleID. My brother is a computer guy and he solved the problem pretty quickly. In the terminal he found that my copy of adobe creative suite was using the same server to send info about the products trial/license. He got rid of it and imessage and facetime work perfectly. I can post details if anyone thinks they may be in the same boat...

Humm,

Little snitch says these Servers and Ports

I have CS 3 and the Photoshop (Version 10) in that does not show up in Little Snitch when it launches (most apps "Phone Home" on launch to check for updates).

L:ttle Snitch reports this for Dreamweaver also from CS 3

Completely different IP address.

I don't follow the logic explained earlier that Adobe was calling an Apple Server.

However I would say I have not bought a version via the App Store that might have some Update check going on that way.
