Sadly there is still no support for this feature with the 2008 Aluminum Macbook. 10.8.2 just updated support for the 2010 Macbook Air, but that was the only additional computer.
It would be nice if we could also use this, Apple!
Power Nap wakes the computer every hour to do specific things and then puts it back to sleep. Any computer that is booted off a HDD will spin the drive up for a few seconds and then spin it down again. While this doesn't consume a lot of power, it makes annoying sounds and tends to add wear to the disk drive.
Hence, Power Nap is restricted to computers WITHOUT hard disk drives, even if it is one where the HDD has been changed out to an SSD.
As GW Schreyer mentions Power Nap is restricted to computers without HDDs. I have a Macbook 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008 running Mavericks, and I know it supports Power Nap, as I've seen evidence of it. (Specifically, the computer has retrieved new emails while it was sleeping.
