Can Mail Import MS Outlook .PST Files?

I've got a bunch of emails locked up in .PST files I backed up from MS Outlook 2003 (not Outlook Express) for Windows XP. Is there any way I can convert those .PST files so I can read those emails in Tiger's Mail application? What conversion steps (if any) must I undertake to make that happen?

Also, I do NOT have a Windows PC - just the CDs containing the Outlook .PST files. So any application that might do the trick must be installable on my Mac.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can solve my dilemma.

The only way of doing it is running a Windows utility
called 'Outlook2Mac', so you'd either need access to
a Windows machine, or a copy of Virtual PC.

Thanks Pingu for your reply. I do have a copy of VPC ver.7 that will work on my Powerbook (but not on my Intel iMac) so I will need to install it. I had left VPC off the Powerbook because it runs slow as molassas in January, even though my PB is a fully maxxed-out-RAM, 1.5 gHz G4. But if it will allow me to run a program that will let me get my emails, I guess I will try it.

Thanks again.

I went ahead and installed VPC, then updated it to version 7.0.2 so it would run right in OS X 10.4.5.

I then downloaded and installed Outlook2Mac, with a CD containing a .PST in the drive.

O2M told me it couldn't find the Outlook PROGRAM so it wouldn't work. So I had to exit.

Apparently just the .PST is not enough - you need the Outlook program as well - in my case in a VPC/WinXP environment. Ah well...

Thanks Bronson. Interesting article. But the procedure in the article still requires that you have a PC to begin with - which I don't.

But anyway, as luck would have it, my son - a student - has MS Office 2003 (Windows version, which includes Outlook 2003) Student/Teacher edition, the license for which allows for use on three computers at home. There was one license left so I installed it in my VPC/WinXP environment. It was flawless! I then imported the .PSTs, without any problem. Finally, I ran O2M (again, in my VPC /WinXP environment) and converted the files. So, problem solved! 🙂 🙂

Thanks again - to you and everyone else that weighed in.

go here, download it. un tar it. compile it and then
in terminal run the command "./readpst -r
yourfilename.pst" and then go into mail and import as
"other" then select the output folder for the readpst
file and then mail will do the rest.

Thanks Ryan for the reply. But your reply doesn't say where "here" is, or what "it" is. Also, I have no "readpst" files, only .pst files.

Can you specify? Thanks.
