Q: iCloud email and Messages "Failed to verify email."

While trying to setup Messages on 10.8 on my MacbookAir4,1, Messages gives me the error "Failed to verify email.  An error occurred while verifying 'xxxx@mac.com'".

After clicking the "Remove Email" button, the same Failed-to-verify-email error box pops up again.  And endless loop of this error message continues, which I have to quit Messages.

Any suggestions?

I too am experiencing this issue. Messages and iMessage worked great before I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now, no dice.

The only other way I know to get in contact with someone that can deal with account Issues is to log in to your iTunes Account and use the Contact option there.

On a whim, I went back to try an add my actual Apple ID to messages.  I was sent a verification email, and was able to add the address to Messages.

Apple must have fixed something on their end.

    Solved!
