I need to run an .exe file on my ibook g4 running 10.4.11.
What problem allows this on a ppc mac with mac osx 10.4.11?

The only way you can run .EXE applications on your iBook is through Virtual PC for Mac.
Think we have already discussed the use of Virtual software before for your iBook. 🙂
.EXE are Window applications, a PPC does not have the correct architecture to run them natively.
i can't seem to install windows xp on vp with system recovery disks 1-4 (install disks for windows xp 1-4) i get an error when i try to run windows xp,.
System recovery disk may be specific to the PC they are intended. I would suggest a OEM copy of Windows XP.
If a set of Windows recovery disk do not detect the correct hardware they relate to, it just wont run.
Also, I wouldn't apply SP 3 to your Windows running on VP.
Stick to SP 2 if you can help it.
these system recovery disk are not pc specific they work on any pc.
If it was an OEM copy there would be one disk. Therefore these system recovery disk 1-4 must relate to a manufactured PC or supplied on purchase of a Windows PC. Does this copy of Windows come in a retail box?
Where are you obtaining the COA from?
What error are you getting?
They might be pc specific but they work on any pc. i don't understand why.
Yes, they may work on any PC made by that specified hardware manufacture. Don't forget your trying to install them on a VP with emulator hardware setup by you. For example processor, memory and such.
Secondly how do you know it can be installed on a number of hardware manufactured PC's, if you haven't already tried?
i have an emachines computer from 2005, the system recovery disks work on a hp computer i tried them myself and a dell 2005 pc. These recovery disk work on any computer that supports install of windows xp and have 786ram or less but not less than 223mb.
i got the windows xp iso (not system recovery disks) and windows 7 iso (not system recovery disks) so which one should i use for virtual pc 2007.
If you have a PC running Windows, then why do you need to run a .EXE application on your iBook?
I'm not sure if the Microsoft COA allows for multiple installs??
If it's machine specific then should it not apply to one single user licence on that one machine?
Personally I would use the Windows XP, Windows 7 will not run well if at all. 🙂
some exe do not run yet on windows 7 like the exe i'm trying to open on my pc w7
You could have always run the .exe application in Windows XP SP 2 compatibility mode within Windows 7.
It looks to me like you have the VP working, what is it like for performance? I am sure it's a bit slow running on a PPC.
it's fast i guess i added virtual memory (R.A.M) about 1440MBs SO YES but one con : internet explorer crashes ALOT!
