How can I unpair an Apple Remote from a Universal Dock?

My universal dock (with my iPhone in it) is close to my iMac, and every time I use my remote for controlling music on my iMac, it affects the docked phone. If I pause music on the iMac, it begins on the phone. How can I unpair an Apple Remote from a Universal Dock? I've done it before but can't remember how.
