i have not been able to turn on the predictive completion in either the simplified or traditional chinese input

With 10.7, i had no problem using the chinese input and the predictive completion function. However, with mountain lion, that funchtion is no where can be found, even checking all the appropriate boxes. Any suggestion? Thanks.

I believe that's just a canned response for "I don't know". Seems odd that such an important feature that was in Lion will be taken out of ML...especially since Apple is touting its new Chinese features. Also, they list it in the ML page on their site.

Dynamic word lists

Mountain Lion draws word and phrase suggestions from lists of words that update dynamically without the need for an OS X update.

I don't think the problem is widespread. Googling this issue only comes up w/ this page and another post that I posted on the Google group. Probably a corrupt preferences file or something. Gonna try deleting it...if I can find it.

I deleted that .plist file but it's still not working...have no idea what's going on now. I do see it in the file tho...it's under "ShowAssociatedWords"...but when I turned it off it's not there.

Looks like I need to take a trip to the Apple Store to see if anyone there knows. If they can fix it I'll post here. If not then it looks like a clean install for me.

Do you use pinyin? If so you can just type all the words at once (w/ no space) and it'll give you suggestions. For example to write this:

今天是禮拜五

I type this: "jintianshilibaiwu"

Doesn't work all the time but most of the time it's effective.

where is the ShowAssociatedWords?

i took my mac air to the apple store (after upgraded to the mountain lion), and they ended up doing a clean reinstall. i don't think reinstall will help our situation. i have asked them about this completion function and they were not familiar, which is expected.

i am using the QIM pinyin input and is working out well. may be after a little more usage, i wont even miss the completion function. However, it is frustrated to see a function the is advertized missing.

I experience the same problem here and I checked all the necessary boxes in Preferences but still couldn't activate predictive completion when I use Pinyin to input Chinese characters. Staff at the HK Apple Store said this feature is no longer available for Pinyin input method in ML. I am rather frustrated, is there any update on how to rectify this problem?

i have not been able to turn on the predictive completion in either the simplified or traditional chinese input
