boot 10.8 freezes

Hello since I have installed 10.8, there are two issues:

1. My pbp freezes while booting or after opening the user. All of a sudden: freeze, than a message, that there is problem ad the option to reboot the Mac.

Have re installed 10.8. No solution.

2. Issue

Resident RAM is 5.78 out of 8 GB

Terminal : 'Purge' gives following response:

Unable to purge disk buffers, error #-2.

Only way to make it work, is whilst booting in the safe mode (shift key while starting). No extensions therefore no full capacity.

Any proposition how to get out of the dilemma?
