Error mzm.whodaifs.pkg cannot get past this to install

I'm having the an issue and can't seem to resolve it. I tried deleting the com.apple.store folder to clear out the apple store cache and still no luck. Cannot figure out how to fix this. It seems to download but does not transition from the download to next step which would be install. After the download appears to complete, I immediately receive an error message that says:

"The application could not be downloaded"

"An error occurred while running scripts from the package "mzm.whodaifs.pkg". and I then have an option to either retry or cancel and if I retry same result.

I've been trying for the last couple of days, but same error comes up. Anyone know what this means?

In the Finder, select to Go Menu and select Go To Folder. Enter /private/var/folders/. You should see a folder d3. Delete the contents of the folder and try downloading again. This is a temp folder that the AppStore uses to download software. There should also be a zz folder that has past downloads and other temp files. Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem. I spent more than an hour on the phone with an apple tech...no resolution. One thing I'm thinking about is that I just installed MacKeeper, and ran the delete duplicates...It came up with literally hundreds of "strangely" named files. Rather than going though each pair of files and determining if either of both of them could be eliminated, I just pushed a global button which probably eliminated approximately half of the supposed dupes. I'm now wondering if I haven't shot my system in the foot by doing this.

Did they suggest anything to you? I also have MacKeeper and about a month ago did the same thing you did. So, don't know if that's just a coincidence or truly wherre the issue stems from. I may not understand enough about it, but when I am trying to download Mountain, it downloads, I just don't get to the next step of install. In trying to understand the error it would seem that deleting duplicates would have nothing to do with our issue since it's a fresh download of the new OS. It almost seems like it can't unpack it to install? I really don't know though. I'm debating on restoring from a month ago when I deleted dups but would hate to do that if the issue has nothing to do with what you and I are experiencing.

Okay, I FIXED THE PROBLEM! I must have had some corrupt files in my Lion OS so I re-installed Lion, without touching my data so all files were left the same. Whatever OS files I had that were either corrupt or missing must have been fixed. I then downloaded Mountain Lion and after download it began the install process.

You don't need the recover disk in order to do this so long as you have Lion on your Mac. Just hold down the "command" and "R" keys immediately after reboot so it takes you to the Mac Utilities Screen, and choose to reinstall Lion. It takes about 30 min to 1 hour once complete then go back to the App Store and try again. Hope this works for you as it did for me.
