I've been struggling with Safari freezing fairly often on different sites as well as occasionally links stop working in a page (seen this fairly often in searching for images in Google) ... it just stops over time.
Of course quiting and restarting Safari fixes the problem but I thought that each tab would be it's own process be able to continue on other tabs but it seems to take the whole app down.
Not good. Installed Firefox 16 and will use that in the meantime but it's amazing how I'm so used to gesture support (zoom and two finger page turns) on my magic pad.
Hopefully the planets will align and a fix for this and my apple TV issues will be along shortly. I've never had this much problem since I bought my iMac in 2007.

Perhaps it may have to do with differences in the two computers — such as the MB Retina runs a Nvidia GeForce GT 650 card whereas the Mini doesn't. Or it could just be a random quirk like some other Mountain Lion bugs I've experienced and discuss on this board.

My work is also experiencing issues in Safari 6 on Mountain Lion as. Our QA team (who went from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion) are having lots of bugs that I am unable to recreate. I went from Snow Leopard -> Lion -> Mountain Lion, and I think my stop at Lion in the middle is the reason I can't recreate the bugs (I got Safari 6 on Lion, then went to Mountain Lion) that QA clearly is experiencing. Pieces of functionality that are powered heavily by JS are now just basically vomitting on themselves. Works fine in all other browsers and none of us have any extensions on our Safaris.
I hope a fix is coming quickly. It's quite an awkward situation for us to be caught in as it is effecting our users and we want to resolve the issues for them but developing to fix bugs that I can't recreate therefore cannot actively test during development is nearly impossible.

The exact same thing is happening to me all the time. Also, Safari will pause when right before connecting to a server with the blue address bar partially filled in - it just hangs there forever. Restarting Safari and visiting the same URL will immediately remedy the problem.
This is a huge step back for the browser.

The same hapening here. Sudenly after a little scrolling down rest of the page in Safari are blank however complete in chrome. You can also not select any text when you scoll down as it will jump to the top of the page and when you scroll no link works!

Same thing is happening for me. The only way I've been able to fix this is to restart Safari when it's starts with rendering issues. I usually have a few windows open with three or four tabs each while testing HTML/CSS issues and this is one more thing I'd rather not have to deal with.

I just updated to Mountain Lion. (I have a MacBook Pro 2011)
I first noticed a problem when I tried to go to ESPN.com and the web page didn't load in Safari. Went to Chrome and it worked. Tried back in Safari after this and it worked, weird. Keep surfing ESPN go to Fantasy Football page and all the tabs that enable me to move players to the bench and start a player did not load. There are also tabs to get updates on players' injuries and those tabs did not load. It was just blank. Leave it to me having issues on my fantasy football team to get them motivated to figure out what is going on here. I read throught this forum thread and some others to figure this out.
How I fixed it: Safari> Preferences> Privacy> Block Cookies (My radio buttom was clicked from third party and Ads) I switched to this never.
This worked for me. Web page fully loaded now.
I am not sure if this applies to anyone in here but I figured it was worth my time to try to help someone like myself in need.

I am also having the same problems with the ESPN fantasy football website. I tried your suggested fix, but it did not work for me. I am currently unable to make any player moves or pick up players, etc. etc.
