Q: Help with iMessage with MacBook Pro, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Hi all, needing some help please.

 

I send an iMessage using my MacBook Pro, I receive a reply on my iPad 2 but nothing appears on my iPhone 4S.

 

Why is this?

Hi,

 

In the iOS devices go to Settings > Messages > Received At > Caller ID

Are you sure this is the same Apple ID spelt the same way as used in Messages ?

 

Were all old Messages cleared from the iOS devices ?

iMessages can't be synced if they were sent before the Apple ID was linked to an iPhone Phone Number (it can't grab all your history as it were).

 

The Syncing will only be from the time this was set up.

 

iMessages from the Apple ID on Messages on the Mac to the iPhone Number should sync across all devices.
Message from the iPhone number will not be a function until iOS 6 is released.

    hi ralph, i am having some trouble and ive found people having similar problems but i have yet to find a solution to my problem that works.

     

    so my husband purchased me a new imac, he signed into imessage with his apple id to message my apple id on my phone to be sure imessage would work from the imac, since i am using the imac and every other application on the computer is signed into my apple id, i want the imessage to be tied to my apple id aswell.

     

    however i go into preferences and manage accounts, and i see his apple id there.... and it will not allow me to remove it.... so i click disable it... and i hit the plus to add my account.

    and i add my imessage account and get a error message saying that it cannot verify my email because its in use by another apple id.

    this is happening everytime i try i cant get his apple id out of there what can i do to fix this?

    HI,

     

    In Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts go to the iMessages account

    Use the Account Detail Button

    Use the Sign Out Button on the next screen

    Add new ID

    I am also having issues and i tried what you recommended above but I am not able to message my wife using her phone number on her Macbook. She cannot message out from her Macbook to my phone. It just has a big red !on it.I cannot message her to her computer. We have the same Apple ID for our itunes but we have a different iCloud account that is what we use for her iMessage account.

    I am getting the same on my iPhone and I am presuming it is to do with today being iPhone 5 Friday.
