Upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday and lost the mosaic screensaver that used my iPhoto pics. How do I get it back? Thanks.

Were you using a third-party application to make the mosaic screensaver? If so, the first thing you should do is run a software update or look for a similar program that is compatible with Mountain Lion. 🙂
Thanks. I thought it was an option in the previous OS (Snow Leopard?). It just appeared as my screensaver when I bought my iMAC. I have not used a 3d-party screensaver program. Am I nuts?
I think that actually might be a feature in iPhoto. Try reading this:

The article deals with Leopard OS. The System Preferences>Desktop Screensaver in Lion doesn't have the same choices as shown in the article. Not the answer, as far as I can tell. I've seen several answers in other threads that lead me to believe that Lion may have screensaver glitsches that will need to be corrected. Thanks.
I just thought there might be some similarities in iPhoto's past version to its new one.

Unfortunately, Mosaic is no longer a screen saver option with Mountain Lion.
It was also a favorite of mine. 😢
Thanks. I was coming to that conclusion but I appreciate your confirmation. Thanks to Frost Byte as well for all the help. Maybe Apple will include mosaic in a fix along the way.
Hi, I found a solution however it's rather a hack and I don't know the implications… The screensaver is located under /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework You can replace this folder with the folder of a Mac OS Lion installation. You will have to replace the preference pane (/System/Library/PreferencePanes/DesktopScreenEffectsPref.prefPane) as well.
Don't forget to make backups before you replace anything! 😉

BR, Thanks for the info...unfortunately (for me) I'm not sophisticated enough to start hacking Lion (or any other software for that matter). In fact, I only vaguely understood what you were suggesting. I'll hold out hope that Apple puts mosaic back in the next update of Lion and continue to wish I had a clue how to avail myself of the expertise exhibited in response to my question. Jim

Hi, I'm glad there seems to be a working solution to get back the mosaic screensaver, but is it still possible to let Apple do the updates after replacing the two maps?

Thanks for the tip, it worked perfectly for me. I got the 10.7 versions of the Screensaver from my TimeMachine backup.
Btw, I will keep a copy of those 10.7 versions elsewhere in case a future 10.8 update replaces them with a new screensaver.
And I agree with the rest of us: I don't understand why Apple removed this mosaic effect: it's so great to have it running on the computer screen in our living room :-)

Can someone please elaborate on replacing these files to reinstall Mosaic? Would be greatly appreciated!
I tried this method entering into time machine to my SL and replaced the two files listed above. Upon opening the system preferences and when I try to enter the desktop/screen saver I receive athis dialog box...
The information given me is that an open system preference may be running in cmpatibility mode and that when I quit the SP it restarts in 64 bit mode. Problem is that when I reopen the SP and select screen savers I get this...
Notice that desktop and screen saver is both greyed. If I click screen saver nothing happens. Any ideas? I'd like to get this back.

the other one not. it seems that you forgot one file. Remember BOTH:
/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework
AND
/System/Library/PreferencePanes/DesktopScreenEffectsPref.prefPane
