It isn't. It's blazing fast.
What etensions, plugins, internet security or AV apps do you have on there?
Plugins:
20-20 3D Viewer for IKEA v5.0.94.0
Java Applet Plug-in
QuickTime Plug-in 7.7.1
Shockwave Flash
Silverlight Plug-In
WebKit built-in PDF
No Safari extensions.
Security: Cisco DPC3825 firewall.
I have made no changes since upgrading from Lion with Safari 5 to Mountain Lion with Safari 6.
Website now load 2x slower. Loading this thread from the email link took 9sec.
Hello! since I updated the system for mountain lion, my mac mini is very slow, Safari has gotten worse! Can you help me?
Safari 6 got extremely slow after only a few minutes of using it, THEN I did a complete "Reset Safari..." (under the Safari menu) and that seemed to solve everything. Now, Safari is faster than ever.
Hope that helps!
Chris
I'm under Lion, and since i have updated safari 6 , it's very slow sometimes it's hanged and the favicons have disappeared ðŸ˜
It's only fast if you have one or two tabs open. Open up a dozen tabs. Make sure a couple are flash heavyish and see what happens.
The new Glims just out restores the favicons. I've posted the link elsewhere in these forums, just click my name to see where I've posted.
I also find it extremely slow. Often it loads a page (slowly) then the beach ball spins when I try and scroll down the page (for sometimes 30 seconds!). I stopped using Safari yesterday because of this. It was preventing me from working - the first time ever it's not been my preferred browser.
It has also quit unexpectedly a few times.
Chase.com and Facebook.com are sites that it takes forever to load and sometime does not load all the images. They work great in Chrome. This behavior started recently and presists through resetting safari, however, Those sites do work just fine in the guest user account.
Having this same problem here since moving to Mountain Lion... some sites load fast and fine, others jam up and take forever (having big problems with Facebook and Apple Discussions, of all things). And this only seems to affect my main account on both my iMac and Macbook... other user accounts and my troubleshooting account (all of which also have admin privileges) on the same computers have no problems at all with Safari. Can't figure this one out just yet.
Not sure why it is slow .... but it sure is. I have been having major issues on my Bank website and Facebook and others..... sites just hang. I switched to Chrome and everything screams - fast as ever. I guess I will stick with Chrome until there is a Safari update. So much for the Thermo Nulear Warriors.
Safari 6 seems to have problems if you have expired certificates on your machine. Since mobile me is closed almost everyone will have some expired certificates! Open Keychain (under Applications in the Utilities folder) and remove any expired certificates. Then all those sites that use https etc will now work fine and Safari should be back to full speed, if not clear out the cache for Safari.
Brilliant! Thank you xxMikeBxx! This seems to work. I guess it was only affecting some users, since not everyone was using MobileMe. Thanks again... would not have thought of that.
Yes, this did the trick! Safari now works fine on the sites that were slow.
Thank you very much! Safari is working perfect now! 🙂
