We just got 5 iPads in the office and just setup a wireless network specifically for them. I want to hide the SSID to make it more secure but I'm not sure how then, I would connect from the iPad. I know how to manually do it on a laptop but I'm still getting used to the iPad. Any suggestions?

Hiding the SSID for security reasons is totally useless:

I was just looking to get away from someone sitting in their car or park across the street and picking up the signal. I know there are scanning tools that will display the SSID regardless, I was just trying to stop the snoopers.
If you use a powerful password with WPA2/AES security/encryption, there is nothing to snoop.
Anyway, you should be able to turn off SSID broadcast on your router.
HIdden Network
Settings>WiFi>Choose a Network>Other...>Fill in Name and Password of hidden network
Connect to hidden SSID
