Thanks for responding.
1. I connected my IPod to my lap top to upload new music downloads.
2. The only things running on my laptop was AOL and Nortons.
3. The OS is Windows 7 with all of the latest patches.
4. Not knowing the version specificley I can say that is the latest version of ITunes.
5. iPod Classic 120gig.
Before you connect the iPod to the PC, can you open iTunes and toggle the Genius connection, there was some success with this suggestion.
Yes I am able to toggle Genius. I've even deleted iTunes and reinstalled. All to no avail. The latest news is that now the Pc does not acknowledge the IPod at all. Yes I've tried other USB ports, yes I've tried other cables, yes I'm getting more and more frustrated.......
I was hoping that it is just some Antivirus, AOL or plugins conflict with iTunes, which I think you have ruled out, by stopping them, in your many tries to fix the error.
Can you do the iPod DiskDiagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem but helps in troubleshooting.
I found a solution to the error message. I just picked up a refurbished 160gig from my local apple store. It was determined that my iPod really did have a bad drive. Thank you all for offering me you assistance.
