    Thank you Danny. It's the oldest fix in computing. "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?" It works. Why didn't I think of it sooner.

    Restarting the device using the most current airport utility was sufficient to fix my issue.

    Just had this exact same issue today. I did two things that appeared to trigger it - the first was to link my daughter's new MBP to our time capsule in addition to the iMac that's been using it for the last 3yrs. The second was that I updated the firmware on the Time Capsule after installing the iPad Airport Utility.

     

    What worked for me -- opening a finder window and ejecting (dismounting) the time capsule. When the iMac rediscovered it, all was good again. No need to download anything else or change any passwords.
