Mountain Lion Folder Issues

After upgrading to Mountain Lion on my Retina MBP, I have had trouble navigating in Finder. When I select "Documents" in the sidebar, it just opens into the sidebar I was in prior (lets say "Music" for the sake of the question).

I've tried repairing permissions, killing Finder, restarting - nothing seems to fix this really odd behavior. I literally can't get into my Documents folder even by navigating to Users/username/Documents.

Any help would be appreciated. This is driving me mad.

Having the same problems, have to relaunch finder and problem goes away for a bit then comes back. happy I found your post as I was going to fresh re-install os. Have you found any solution yet. I've no doubt we will wait for months for apple to respond. Come to think of it, Lion introduced finder bugs so I rang apple, they told me to do a full clean install. After I did the clean install, they went away. Have you done a full clean install without using back up from time machine.

Nothing yet, but the YouTube video is bringing out more people with the same issue. I have done every maintainance operation available to fix it and still nothing. I can guarantee that it is a legitimate bug and even reinstallation doesn't seem to fix it.

The only thing that offers a little solace is fixing the folder view from tile to in-line. But, I've always used tile view and this is just a pain for me personally. Let me know if you find any new info.

I did a completely clean install using a brand new boot partition and didn't import a thing. The problem is still there. It is definitely a bug as Gnarlodious said.

Yet it is not that common. I cannot reproduce it, in either a clean install or an upgraded system. Wonder if it is specific to certain models of computer or graphics card?
