I did a clean install of Mountain Lion on my MBP so there are no drivers installed. I read that we need to use Software Update to download the Epson printer drivers. However, when I connect my printer by USB to my Mac, it still won't recognize it or download the drivers. I have an Epson Workforce 615. Has anyone found a workaround for this or know of a solution???

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 doen't show support for this printer, but Epson shows they have a driver, though only available through Software Update. So, you can download the Epson drivers here:

If the printer doesn't work after installing that package, then try using Software Update.

When you say that "it still won't recognize it or download the drivers", what behavior did you see or did you not see (but expected to see)? One possibility is that Software Update hasn't finished creating its local cache by the time you connect your printer, do you see the driver if you manually run Software Update (in the Apple menu)?
I actually ran software update but it never showed anything about a printer at all. I rebooted the computer and low and behold my printer was installed and ready to go. I'll take the miracle! 🙂
