Q: Get No Photos to Import on New Camera Kit New SD Card whcih took many before. What happened ?

New IPad 2; bought Apple Camera Kit; use SD Card - copied pictures on it then Imported to iPad Photos.

Then when I placed more on SD and try to import I get message "No New Photos to Add" Over and Over Again .

I tell you if this is about these pics/vids wwere not taken with i_device, Apple needs to be sued - again.

This company was borne out of Openness - I still remember. Now it appears to be closed except iTunes and dollars, but yo don;t get that when you buy the device. This IS highly proprietary !!!!

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1

If you copied the photos onto the card yourseflf via your computer then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them

Thanks. I had video and song extensions M4A because of previous release of IOS/Itunes were blocking songs I legally own (off of CD's) and was tryniog to find a way to get those in there. It actually let three of the songs in once i had named them 8 characters and then just stopped.

After that the files names I was using in DCIM had been LESS than 8 characters.

Friend, you say "The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces)"  What if one has several hundred photos/files. Renameing them on my computer each 8 characters long adds an extension (1), (2), (3), and so on. For example, "JUNE2014(1).  The connection kit won't read the photos due to the extra (1).  How can I fix this without having to rename each of the hundreds of photos one by one?

    Thank you, Cisco.

You don't mention what operating system you are running on your computer, so its hard to be specific.

But probably a BAT file or shell script could help you.

Otherwise, there's bound to be a mass rename app for your operating system out there.

    Mass file renamer Google search

King_Penguin... I have the same problem but on images straight out of the camera onto the SD card and into the iPad. They show up on the desktop iMac (OS X), but the iPad 2 says "no photos to import." Any suggestions? Thanks,

    Brian

Make sure the camera is creating the required folder and naming the photos correctly, as specified by King Penguin.  Is there a DCIM folder in the SD card?  Are the photos names in a 8.3 format (8 character names and 3 character extensions)?
