Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

Hi to everyone.

i purchased a MBPR last week and now I notice the anooying Lag effect. However, I'm using gfxcardstatus to change the graphic cards on the fly and the lag problem is only present when I use the integrated Intel Graphic prosessor, not when I use the discrete one.

I don't know if anyone have noticed that before.

Ahhh, I see. So if you are an Certified Apple Support Tech I take it Apple is aware of the issue?

Nope, I'm not an Apple Engineer from Cupertino. I just fix Macs, I don't know what makes them click ;)

That said, I ended up sending my rMBP away for RMA. The motherboard replacement didn't help.

I would think that if Techs that work @ mac (Even the retail stores) are sending back thier rMBPs then Apple is aware and working on it. It's nice to have a person on the inside for this i guess.

To be clear I don't own one, but want one. I am crawling this thread to see when it is fixed so I can pick one up. But right now I own a 09' 17" MBP Duo Core with Upgraded Ram & SSD.

I'll be honest, and I could get roasted for saying this, but it's been a hit/miss situation. I've received perfectly working rMBP's that have absolutely no scroll flaw whatsoever. I'm guessing something happened at the SMC update process. There's already a fix for the 13" rMBP and I can tell you, once the SMC and EFI updates are applied to the rMBP, all the problems go away.

If only the engineers can write a subroutine that allows you to reflash the 15" SMC and EFI updates, I'm more than convinced that THAT will solve this issue.

Well, I managed to fix a 15" rMBP just now, this one had the previous version of the EFI firmware. I updated it using MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.0, and after an SMC reset and NVRAM reboot, the laptop is now running flawlessly.

I'm begging the Apple engineers to PLEASE allow us to reflash the EFI firmware, just rewrite it so that the firmware update can be applied again!

Is this something that others can test or try on their own?

Your 15" is working better now after flashing with v 1.0 of the EFI Update?

It wasn't my own's computer that I fixed. Mine is already getting replaced. The one that is working is a client's. The EFI Update will definitely work if you're allowed to apply it.

I have a rMBP and it has serious lag, the most obvious being in the calendar app, changing months, scrolling certain websites, viewing PDFs in preview, and entering mission control. My friend has a rMBP with identical specs and it has literally no lag at all. Very annoying, especially as I found nothing about interface lag online until after I bought the laptop. At least its not a hardware issue... Fingers crossed for a fix.

When you say it lags month-to-month, are you talking about when you use two fingers to scroll and it initiates the page curl animation? Can someone upload a video of this? I'd like to see how bad it is.

There really isn't any Judder, but there aren't a whole lot of frames either. (In other words it's smooth with a low frame rate) How does the Retina compare?

Also, I have my laptop set to use the more powerful Discreet Graphics card which is obviosly not as good as the 650M in the Retina, but it's better than my on-board chip used for better battery life.
