Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

what video card was used during video capturing ? Intel or Nvidia ? did you try the same trick but with non HiDPI screen resoutino ?

The resolution is 1920x1200. Don't know how to choose video card?

and installed the tool.

It doesn't help with the drop in fps for notes, mail and safari, but WIN for Renoise (music sofware in the videos)! I haven't been able to run it in full screen becasue of the lag, but choosing non-HiDPI 1920x1200 works till Apple fix it.

Any news ?

Is there really a solution... ?

This has been said and proved on several occasions: this is a software problem, not a hardware one. There are various tests online which show that running exactly the same files on different mac operating systems or different applications will show drastic performance differences. For example running an identical excel file on the same machine in microsoft excel and google drive will be day and night. The same goes for browsing, video, gaming etc etc.

There is no "fix" yet, but I am sure it will be eventually optimized. There are several tweaks which will increase your performance, but in my opinion its just too much hassle for an tiny performance boost.

This is my 3rd rMBP and after trying every possible solution out there I gave up.

I called Apple again yesterday...nothing. We'll just continue to hold our breaths until 10.8.3 comes out. And even THEN I'm not very confident this problem will ever get fixed. As I mentioned earlier, Intel is already working on a fourth generation processor, I would imagine that THAT will be the solution.....maybe they'll recall the current generation Retinas...

Holy crap Idjalal, you're on your THIRD rMBP????? Well, I had 3 motherboard replacements before they decided to send me my second. But even this 2nd rMBP all symptoms have been identical. The only thing I can do now is run OS X at the best resolution (1440x900 HiDPI)

Yep, 2 bought in London and the one I am currently using bought in New York. Eventhough my MBAir works much better, the retina display is just amazing to work on.

New processorts wont help, its all about optimizing Mountain Lion or whichever name they give to the next one.

got a MBP 13" for christmas, but mum said, that if i want a bigger one ore one with a retina display i just have to say it (: so we went to a local retailer and i was amazed about the retina display, and in the store it was as smooth as the normal MBP, but at home i noticed the lag. i came from a 6 year old windows xp laptop, so first i didnt notice the ui lag, but then i thought:"****, theres something wrong. youve just spent about 2000 euros for a f***** laptop and its still laggy /:"

otherwise: do i have the right to change the macbook retina to a normal macbook?

Yes, depending on how much time has passed since the laptop was purchased, you can get a refund with no questions asked.

Eventhough I hate the fact that my machine costs £3k and is slower than my 4 year MBP, I still cant live without the quality of this display.

...oh, you'd be surprised with all the things you can live without.

Back to the subject, do you know if that refund policy is from Apple or the country you live in? I bought this LMB (laggy macbook) in Japan, but live in Brazil. Could I return it in an Apple Store in Brazil, if there was any Apple Store in Brazil?
