Aug 23, 2012 5:32 AM in response to dscielby Alexis Vautier,Maybe 10.8.2 could solve our problem is 10.8.1 doesn't.
I really hope that graphic drivers gonna be improved... It's a little bit disappointing to see poor performances on OS X games compared to Windows...

Aug 23, 2012 6:02 AM in response to Alexis Vautierby Montegentile,I think Apple could release only a rMPB update (not included in 10.8.1/2) to fix lags.
I don't know about MBA or MBP under Mountain Lion.

Aug 23, 2012 6:23 AM in response to Montegentileby Kevin808,I get slight lag during scolling on my late 2009 17" MBP (Like an annoying hiccup) So it is not just rMBPs
2.8 intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB graphics
8 Gigs of RAM
256 Gig SSD
ML OSX
And iPhoto crashes like crazy when I scoll through events under ML OSX (I have over 600 events ...but still).

Aug 23, 2012 8:11 AM in response to dscielby Alexis Vautier,OS X 10.8.1 is available ! Does it solve any problems for you ?
For me, it doesn't change anything !

Aug 23, 2012 10:40 AM in response to Alexis Vautierby Tissot11,No change for me. Mission Control might have got even worse. 10.8.2 developer preview is out and there is no mention of graphics and UI performence. I got no choice but to return the rMBP. It's a pitty!

Aug 23, 2012 1:57 PM in response to dscielby DonSonz,If the problem wont be solved soon, I think that all rMBP owners must return the notebook and purchace another product from another manufactorer!
Dont buy any apple products in the future. Apple product are not cheap so we must demand a good quality.
Otherwise apple must lose customers.

Aug 24, 2012 5:45 AM in response to dscielby noiseordinance,Just for FYI, received a replacement MBPr in the mail from Apple after complaining about my severely reduced battery life after upgrading to ML. This new MBPr ALSO has display issues that my previous unit had. Issues common to both MBPr units: 1) stuttering graphics when changing workspaces and launching mission control, 2) stuttering graphics when scrolling in Safari, Mail, Chrome, 3) sometimes a 20 second wait (and a temporary blue screen) when coming out of sleep mode. On both units the graphics improve a bit when I turn off auto switching, which I refuse to do. No way am I going to let my unit heat up and drain battery faster so that their UI can run quicker.
There's absolutely no way they don't realize these issues. Apple pushed out an inferior product at a maximum price and they need to make this right. It's tough when apps haven't updated to retina, making the experience blurry in a lot of ways. But it's a completely different pain to know that not even Apple truly supports their own product. Using my wife's MBP mid-2009 with Lion is a dream compared to this thing.

Aug 24, 2012 8:35 AM in response to noiseordinanceby Tissot11,Well, I've decided to return my rMBP. It's a pity as I really liked the display and the machine. But I couldn't justify spending 3000 Euro on a machine that doesn't even match the UI performance of my last year's MBP. Hope Apple does something fast enough to address this issue and you guys can enjoy your rMBPs!

Aug 24, 2012 9:41 AM in response to Tissot11by noiseordinance,I just hope it's not a hardware limitation that can't be resolved. What bothers me is that MBP from years ago can handle the UI of then and now, whereas MBPr can't even handle the UI of now, so what makes me think it's going to be able to handle the UI of the future?
Can someone tell me something... when fancy UI features like workspace switching and launchpad came out, were there initial problems with the interface that were resolved after an update or two? If so, that would give me hope for the future. Otherwise, I have a feeling this is something we will be stuck with. For now, with all MBPr's in Apple stores being set to constant discrete graphics, I can't help but feel like there's some false advertising going on.

Aug 24, 2012 2:26 PM in response to dscielby Alexis Vautier,Good news everybody ! I installed 10.8.2 and guess what : no more lag !
That is my history :

Aug 24, 2012 2:31 PM in response to Alexis Vautierby ZachWills,Where did you install 10.8.2 from? I am experiencing lag as well on my 2.6/16gb/256gb model. Currently running 10.8.1

Aug 24, 2012 2:33 PM in response to Alexis Vautierby primalmotion,I have 10.8.2. It is better, but still not perfect. When I have several windows opened, Mission control is still very laggy — by several apps, I mean 7 of them.

Aug 24, 2012 2:34 PM in response to ZachWillsby Matthew Morgan,10.8.2 has not been released yet.
It's been seeded to developers but anyone who has it legitamtely is under a non-disclosure agreement and should not be discussing it here.
