And what about Macbook Pro Retina 13 inch? Everything will be just fine this fall for 13 inch retina????  Or not?

OS X 10.8.5 did not solve any problem for me. Resizing App Store is not smooth nor other windows like Finder, iTunes, Terminal etc. Actually it is really annoying. Mavericks DP7 also skips this issue.

The same thing here but iTunes on my machine is not smooth.Has a very laggy scroll and resizing is just less bad than scroll.

I am having the same issue.  I have OS X 10.8.5 (12F37).  And the AMD Radeon HD 6970M.  Really would prefer to not have to ignore the noise.  Come on Apple!  Let's get this fixed please!

Referring to the last SMC Update for MBR I didn't notice any improvement. Moreover, Mavericks DP 8 still does not solve this issue. I start worrying about it.

After 2.5 months of nothing but pain in the *** with my retina MBP 15", i managed to return it for a full refund at the apple store by talking to the manager. I regret nothing. Just gotta decide what computer i want to buy now and there aren't many options on the Apple menu. Any suggestions?

What makes you think 10.9 won't solve this issue? Check out the following forum and you will see that many users are reporting significant improvement.

If you mean Safari I agree. Scrolling is much better, smooth as I want to be. Normal applications like iTunes are laggy same as AppleStore. As a web programmer I use Bootstrap to make responsive websites. I have to resize a browser vertically to see if page looks good in smaller resolution. If there are a lot of pictures it is laggy, otherwise not really. It is a rendering problem for me. All I am talking about concerns 10.8.5 and 10.9 latest DP.

Hello,i read a lot here in this forum and would like to thank wayne/ and all the other peoples wo thred the thing forward. I have a rMBP 2.4GHz/8GB and have the same problems (Open 10 Safari Windows and MissionContol, and the Safari Scolling/Resizing issues). But at least for the Safari issue i have a definite solution with the new 6.1 version which can be downloaded at apple developer center. All the lag/hanging problems are gone, and it seems that they put the latest WebKit into Safari. No probles with the previous lagging sies like TheVerge. Facebook runns now perfectely smooth, even when scrolling with the MightyMouse. For the UI (Preview/MissionControl...) lags we have to wait for 10.9 which will hopefully sove this issue.

The core of the UI problem is the fact that retina technique does upscale the resolution to the double (in my case from 1920x1200 --> 3840x2400), render the things there and then apply the retina smoothing while downscaling it to the desitred retina pixel rate. In fact the whole UI is running on that high resolution. This all does the graphic card, and not the CPU, or better sad --> The CPU renders the UI elements to a high resolution and the GPU does the smoothing retina effect when downscaling it to the desired resolution. (2800x1800). If there are a lot of windows to handle with big memory areas the graphic card can't get htis fast enough. The technique behind is really old, and was part of the OS since 5 years, i remember. At least for Safari the render problem was resolved with the new 6.1. Hopefully they solve the UI lag (which annoy me not so much) will be solved in the new 10.9 version.

Apart from that i have another question. My Previous rMBP was stolen !!! I bought a new one. ******* anoying (i am from germany, and when we speak out the word ******* means that something was really really bad) I went to the police but without any results. Apart from the FindMyIphone/Mac webpage where you could lock the device when found, is there any side on apple where i could register my serial number or something ?

A friend of mine has a developer account and i tried the Mavericks Golden Master version and it runs really seamless and much faster and lagfree compared to 10.8. Both Safari as well as the whole UI. As i found in the settings in the "about this mac" dialog the Intel HD 4000 uses now 1GB shared memory, in 10.8 was ist only 512.

I just made a clean install of OSX Mavericks, on my early 2013 Retina Mac Pro.

I do notice a small change in smoothness with default transition animations like launchpad and mission control. But dragging, scrolling and resizing various application windows and browsers is still extreme laggy. No change there.

So OSX Mavericks does not solve the UI laggy problem.

I guess we'll have to buy us new $2500 machines or deal with this issue Apple won't do anything about.

@Jasper --> I can't confirm that, on my rMBP13 alle lag issues are gone. Can you make us a video which shows the UI lag ? On my machine the UI reals fluid which was not so on Mountain Lion.
