Q: Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

I personally think the UI lagging bug is a serious issue on rMBP because this machine cost $2000 and up and it lags on UI features such as Mission Control and Space Switching while classic Macbook pros don't. I do understand that the retina display models carries a high resolution display, but I think the quad core CPU should have the ability to handle it (please correct me if I am wrong)

I am hoping and asking anyone experiencing the issue to follow up with this thread and post your concerns. Let's hope for a fix soon and we can really enjoy the beauty a Retina Macbook Pro brings to us.

    A little tip :

The line used on a terminal

This changes the duration of the animation.

If you set 2, it's really long and it you set 0.01, it's only 2 FPS.

    defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration -float 0.15

And after this commande, type this to restart the Dock :

    killall Dock

It's not a solution, it's just a little tip who can make the LAG more... acceptable...

I've bought yesterday rMBP and intalled ML.

Same problem with UI experience... very slow in Mission Control... inaccettable for € 2.299...

I've an MPB 2011 (with ssd Vertex 2 and 8GB ram)... no issue with ML or Lion.

Apple.... what are you doing ?

    I have the same problems.

I am coding in XCode and Sublime Text 2 (Text Editor). Scrolling in any of them, especially Sublime Text 2, is a pain in the ***. The lagging when scrolling when the windows is maximzed is unbearable. Its probably down to like 10-15 FPS or something.

This is the first time I am dissapointed after buying a Apple product.

If there is a fix for this I wouldnt care so much, but it feels like its way to many pixels for the GPU /CPU to handle.

No fix right now. Most probably problem is HD4000 driver or (I don't hope) architecture...

I've forced to use nVidia GPU and problem gone almost completely.

I don't want to use nVidia ever for battery duration. Next wednesday I'll go to Genius Bar to represent the problem but I'm sure they already know it.

Another time I'm doing beta tester for free...

Problem is a lot of people aren't experiecing any lag at all, a friend of mine has a retina MBP too, the chepaest one, and we never saw a single lag on his computer. And he did not tweak the graphic card nor something else. Just working fine out of the box.

Maybe i should do a clean install, apparently some people could fix this with a clean install (i read that on a french board...). Anyone tried it?

I tried 2 clean installs. There was no any lag but when Safari was opened or another software, Mission Control lagged... So, it didn't work for me...

    Yes I did.

Scroll problem, lag problem using Mission Control persists.

Clean installation of Mountain Lion didn't resolve my problems.

    I've installed 2 times Mountain Lion, 1 from a bootalbe USB key created by myself from installer downloaded from my old MBP;

2nd times I've installed ML from Apple server directly but in both times I've the same problems...

As yannick-sker says not all of people has lag scroll/ML/other problem and this is strange.

Hardware is equal and software too... why I see lag and other not ?

In your case you have a different Mac and I can't say nothing about...

Until now I've read a lot of forum pages about this argument but without solution.

Here there are some different dicussion on retina MacBook Pro but I've never read solutions/fix.

i have absolutley no lag at all on my MBPr.

i have heard a few folk reporting this but it looks like it must be a bad batch.

if so apple should exchange it for  a new one in the apple stores.

    What specs do you have?

Wondering if its only lag on the 2.3ghz versions. I have a 2.3 and it's laging like there is no tomorrow. Try opening a long (300 lines) text file in Sublime Text 2 and maximize the window. The kind of scroll lag I get when I do that is unbearable.

Thats a pain... then Apple wont do anything to try and fix it. I Guess.

If I new that this was a problem I would have bought the 2.6 ... Hmm...

Do not hold any regrets: i've got the 2,66 and it's laggy, much more than some 2.3. The answer is not here eiher.
