Q: Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

I personally think the UI lagging bug is a serious issue on rMBP because this machine cost $2000 and up and it lags on UI features such as Mission Control and Space Switching while classic Macbook pros don't. I do understand that the retina display models carries a high resolution display, but I think the quad core CPU should have the ability to handle it (please correct me if I am wrong)

I am hoping and asking anyone experiencing the issue to follow up with this thread and post your concerns. Let's hope for a fix soon and we can really enjoy the beauty a Retina Macbook Pro brings to us.

Well, i have read complains from both base model, and maxed to the highest config. possible, even they have lags, and i have even heard people who aren't having lag on base model, for example. the apple genius , showed me his maxed out retina, with 2.7 ghz , 768 gb ssd, 16 gb ram, who was experiencing lag. so Yeah....i just got a the base model AGAIN, after returning it once, for that reason....

That's because not too many people have the maxed out model. Personally, I have a 16GB RAM rMBP but base hard drive (256GB). I have all the problems described. The real question is whether the folks testing out 10.8.2 are still reporting improved UI experience...

Is it better with the new one? I am wondering if the new shipments could be a little more mature.

Makes no difference... this isnt a hardware issue its a software issue. I have a new 2.6Ghz 512SSD with 16GB ram and so does my girlfriend they both have the awful UI lag. I've read a few posts of people with the 2.7ghz model having the same issue... Someone on this thread mentioned that the beta update for the OS did make the UI better so its a waiting game.

I just shared the interface lags what I have with new OS and new rMBP, can anyone amke the same test, do you see the same lags as me ?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1CRU-YQfDk&feature=youtube_gdata_player

here is in video you can see lags when i'm using two fingers to scroll to next month.

If i'm clicking on arrow to switch to new moth then it's switching fast and without animation, but if with animation everything come tooo slow. And nvidia was turned ON with help gfxCardStatus 2.2.1

please make that test with your mbp. Thanks.

Which model do you have? Is it the base model? When did you buy it? Looks very weird. The GeForce really should handle this animation, even it is on a super high resolution as on the retina MBP.

It is base model. And base resolutiin(means middle one). If I will provide my sn it will help to determine anything else?

I seem to have resolved the problem by using the gfxCardStatus App to force the use of the GeForce graphics card (discrete) at all times.

The drivers for the integrated card dont seem to be able to handle some of the UI effects at the moment. Either this or before performing the effect it was attempting to switch to the discrete card and the process of switching was causing the lag.

This is great news for an interrum fix. Can you post a link to the App for people having this issue to try?

    Thanks!

Its not so true....yep descrete card work faster, you should not be a scientist for that. But its not enough. In my post above you can see how descrete card is working. Can anyone confirn the same issue, on base retina laptop?

Are you sure descrete graphics are active?

Maan this really keeps me away from buying this thing. Too bad, seems it's a big, bad and expensive joke on the apple community. It is unbelievable and not understandable how a company can really be that ignorant to their customers because of fame, since I believe it's apples 'fanbase' that brings most of the money. It's a slap in the face for those who baught in trust.

Finally after using it for sometime. I have to return it as it is really below starndard product and not expected from Apple. Really disappointing.

Hoping for next year Macbook Pro will be better....:-(
