Sep 20, 2012 12:38 AM in response to dscielby Erno12,mine is also better. Almost optimal, but just almost. I can't see any difference between my rMPB 2,6 GHz 16GB, and my iMac now. That means it is i slight lag on my iMac as well. Both with the latest upgrade in Mountain lion. I didn't recognize these lag in Lion. I suppose this is a multifactorial software problem, and they will fix it after a while, gradually. Because its multifactorial, somebody experiences advances after ugrading, while other doesn't.

Sep 20, 2012 12:43 AM in response to dscielby Tigerwong,Mine also better now for UI smoother. only mail and safari has a bit issues but for the rest of the switching is almost perfect now... much better... pretty happy with this update I am sure 10.8.3 will improve more again

Sep 20, 2012 12:45 AM in response to Erno12by poidet,Do you want to say that now your Contacts.app could be maximized (green button) without lags ?

Sep 20, 2012 12:48 AM in response to poidetby Tigerwong, contacts still laggy... but I am refering to general UI experience with mission control and switching window
-
Sep 20, 2012 12:55 AM in response to poidetby Erno12,No. Maximizing Contacts i still lagging. But mission control, zooming in safari, scrolling in Safari, scrolling between programs in full screen etc is ok. And noe delay when I am logging in. Animation in Calendar when changing months by using swipes with to fingers is better, but still have a sligth lag. As I said, its clearly better, but not optimal.

Sep 20, 2012 1:01 AM in response to Tigerwongby poidet,I agree it is became better, but too far from optimal.. and even worse why we have to wait while they will fix it ? it is china noname company ?
P.S. with Intel video card it is still laggy too much, with nvidia it become really better. But it means that you still can't work long without electricity and feel good from what you will see on screen.

Sep 20, 2012 2:28 AM in response to poidetby Ahzari,Ok here lies the issue - some people are claiming that the lag in safari is gone.. it is not, whats likely happening is that those people are using website that are not dense in text and advertising.. for example this website is smooth when I zoom and scroll, on the other hand huffington post, yahoo news, rotton tomatoes or any other website with tons of text and advertising all over the page have huge amounts of lag and framerate issues when *zoom+scrolling. Today I tested 3 rMBP side by side all spec'ed out the same (2.6/16gb/512) all of them still have the lag in safari unchanged after the update again when zoom+scrolling.. note by this I mean not just scrolling normally and not just zooming in and out, but when zoomed in and then scrolling afterwards...
Yes the UI in Mountain Lion is a bit zippier the framerates are not better all apple did is make everything transition a little bit faster. Also note I always have auto graphics switching turned on - I shouldnt have to turn that off to use safari, and I zoom all the time since I don't use the "reader" function that often.
I've spoken to Apple Care and they know there is an issue they had previously mentioned they were working on it I feel like its a stall as others have mentioned with this resolution of this Mac the graphics hardware may not be able to handle everything smoothly; I really hope I am wrong but so far Apple hasnt done anything to show otherwise.

Sep 20, 2012 2:33 AM in response to Ahzariby poidet,Well, some says that problem is in algorythm to scale picture to humanable resolution. And based on my feelings they won't change it I'm thinking the best idea is to sell your rMBP ASAP ****!

Sep 20, 2012 4:21 AM in response to dscielby Lex1179,Someone can try if scrolling in the Mac App Store is choppy with the nvidia card enabled? If I remember correctly it was much smooth with my "old" macbook pro 13 with the HD3000
-
Sep 20, 2012 4:36 AM in response to Lex1179by Ahzari,With Nvidia active there is slightly less choppiness; the *zoom+scrolling has been tried on three different rMBP's after the update. That being said its still not acceptably smooth with graphics switching off AND it should be working smoothly with the HD4000 otherwise what is the point of a dual graphics card? with the nvidia graphics active the battery life drops down to 3-4 hours or nearly half of what Apple advertises the rMBP battery life to be.
Also my house has a 2010 13 inch MBP, a 2009 white MB and a 2008 iMac all dual cores all smoother than the rMBP during *zoom+scrolling (note the iMac/ White MB haven't been update to ML but the 13' MBP has) so basically cheaper older computers are able to do these simple tasks better than a brand new state of the art $3k computer... again, not acceptable, the slow frame rate and choppiness really interfere with the user experience. I'll be going in to the Apple store in the next few days I'll try the *zoom+scrolling on them too but I don't think there will be any surprises - they will likely act the same.

Sep 20, 2012 5:12 AM in response to dscielby Lex1179,Five minute ago my system freeze and I pressed the power button to shutdown the machine. I was writing a comment in a blog with Disqus, nothing special, I thought they fixed these hang yesterday with the EFI update, I was wrong. I reported the bug in the apple bug report system and they marked the bug as duplicate.
They know very well about all these problems, that's sad, they put in the market a machine that they knew has problems.

Sep 20, 2012 9:22 AM in response to poidetby Kevin808,I'm on a 2009 MBP 17" 512 MB Vid ram, SSD, 8 GIGS of Ram and Contacts Max/Min (Green Button) is laggy for me as well... That might not be a Retina thing. I get 3-5 frames in the animation.

Sep 20, 2012 9:31 AM in response to dscielby Rdotyung,I have updated EFi and to 10.8.2.
The lag is still there. However, Mission Control seems to be better than before.

It's an esitmation really, but it is slow enough where I can count them. I did it aboout 6 or 7 times in a row and just counted and averaged.
Here, I took a Vid, you can count yourself... it's fun! [Sarcasm] : http://cld.ee/f/WLI2PS1RzzYDyCkz
It's most noticable on minimization. Oddly enough, the Genie effect... super smooth.
I know it's kind of apples an oranges cause I'm on a 2009 MBP that may or may not have graphics switching (I'm not sure) but I thought it may provide some insight.
