Oct 29, 2012 5:10 PM in response to Lex1179by Wayne Chin,I installed windows 7 ultimate with bootcamp, and let me tell you, it runs like gold. No lag, no hiccups, no screen anomalies. It got a performance rating of 7.6. The only reason why I bought a rMBP is because of my buddy. His ran flawlessly. His Photoshop CS6 glided like ice...inertia scroll was smoother than glass. Mine is 2.6 and his is 2.7, but I hardly think CPU speed has anything to do with it.

Oct 29, 2012 5:29 PM in response to TheWaveableby Wayne Chin,I kinda agree. That had a similar problem back in the past with the aluminum iMacs. They came up with a .dmg file that you can burn on a CD to reflash the SMC or EFI firmware. They should easily be able to do the same with the rMBP, all you have to do is save the data onto a memory stick, reboot off that and reflash the EFI and SMC firmwares. I'll bet anything this is all it takes to fix this problem.

Oct 30, 2012 3:14 AM in response to SeMe1985by orhan_m,Has anyone tested a MBPr 13? Due to there is only the intel graphic card onboard the performance, assuming, has to be full of lags. Any experiences?

Oct 30, 2012 3:35 AM in response to poidetby orhan_m,I seem to have read that parallels have updated to support retina. So I think windows on parallels has the retina resolution

Oct 30, 2012 5:11 AM in response to orhan_mby TheWaveable,What I want to know, is if the lag thing is represented on the new Mac mini with Intel 4000 chip.

Oct 30, 2012 5:24 AM in response to orhan_mby Tigerwong,Parallels may support Retina but the OS inside may not be running at Retina HiDPI settings.
take for example. if you install Firefox [it is currently not retina supported] it will run very smooth but the font is not as good as retina font. the bottle neck here is not safari or chrome. but the issue is when the application is retina enabled it uses the HiDPI resolution that causes the lag.
the issue with mission control is because the Whole OSX itself is already retina enabled therefore it can be slow.
from what i can see probably that Apple still working on a resolution on optimising the graphic on retina or probably update the new driver for Intel 4000[However i think the driver for this may need to come from Intel themself].

Oct 30, 2012 6:05 AM in response to Tigerwongby orhan_m,Seems that we as owners of a MBPr are forsaken with this issue. There is still no reaction and no update.Just too good to be true that a machine with a retina display would work properly.

Oct 30, 2012 6:21 AM in response to orhan_mby poidet,The most serious problem that:
1. Not too much people disappointed by their new laptop (Why ? Hey peoples where are you ?)
2. And number of claim from customers is too smal for them
Compare please our thread with thread about screen ghosts, their thread is much bigger then our here, but they can't do anything ;( Apple won't fix it, because number of claim is not too big.
As I know windows 8 support HiDPI, we need to check windows 8 via bootcamp for example how it will work..

Oct 30, 2012 6:32 AM in response to poidetby TheWaveable,Windows 8 in BootCamp works flawlessly. When you use BootCamp, only the descrete graphics are enabled, so you won't be able to test if Intel 4000 can handle the HiDPI.
For me there is almost no differense between Intel and nVidia when it comes to lag in OSX UI. So i suppose the intel card would have handled Windows 8 just fine with HiDPI.

Oct 30, 2012 6:44 AM in response to dscielby Jul64,Can someone with bootcamp try this : opening the bootcamp window and without closing this window, navigate within safari (for example) and tell if lags are still present or not.
I tried this with LogMeIn Ignition window : when i connect to my remote computer and keep the connection window opened, the lags in safari disappear (I can scroll smoothly trough a pdf file within safari). Of course this is not a solution because it is CPU/GPU consumming but that can help to figure where the UI lags com from.
If it is the same with BootCamp that will means that the lags are a softwear issue...

Oct 30, 2012 7:47 AM in response to dscielby TheWaveable,Hmm.. that was random. Made a new user (still laggy), started AutoCAD (lag gone), logged out of new user, logged in to main user, Lag gone!

Oct 30, 2012 7:58 AM in response to TheWaveableby orhan_m,That sounds bizarre. Please do the same executions which caused the lags before and use your macbook for a time, not just 5 min, and let us know if there is still no lags. Thank you

Oct 30, 2012 8:01 AM in response to TheWaveableby Wayne Chin,Believe me, the lag will return. I did the same with photoshop. The lag comes back within a few minutes.

Oct 30, 2012 8:48 AM in response to dscielby Wayne Chin,Well, despite the lag, I'm actually enjoying fantastic battery life. After a days work fully charged, I still had 75% battery life left after coming home from work. I guess I have the SSD to thank for...
