Q: Mountain Lion UI Lag on rMBP !!! (Let's Make this thread serious and hope for a fix)

I personally think the UI lagging bug is a serious issue on rMBP because this machine cost $2000 and up and it lags on UI features such as Mission Control and Space Switching while classic Macbook pros don't. I do understand that the retina display models carries a high resolution display, but I think the quad core CPU should have the ability to handle it (please correct me if I am wrong)

I am hoping and asking anyone experiencing the issue to follow up with this thread and post your concerns. Let's hope for a fix soon and we can really enjoy the beauty a Retina Macbook Pro brings to us.

We are having similar issues on our 27" iMacs and FCP7.  We have updated all our editing suites that use FCP7 to Mountain Lion and now they all have a latency in the video on both the iMac and the TB Display.  Before that we have had up to 4 machines working off of one through AFP file share protocol and now this has latency issues too.  I originally thought it was an AFP file share issue but after a permissions repair, PRAM reset and just hooking up one Pegasus R6 via thunderbolt to the iMac with no file sharing on it continues to have the latency.

It looks like when you play a video on a junkie cpu and when you drag the video window it skips and has a rolling effect with a horizontal line from bottom to top.

Pretty disappointed.  Trying to see the best way to go back to Lion.  Unfortunately we didn't have all the edit suites backed up to time machine so...

I wouldn't suggest updating to Mountain Lion if you still use FCP7 with similar configurations.  We have copied prores clips to the desktop of the machines and brought them into FCP7 and it continues to give the glitches.  Must be something within the software and not data transfer between R6 and CPU.  Like it has an early 90's refresh rate.

This is disheartening.  The iPhone killed the Mac.

I was experiencing significantly less lag the other week after insalling the latest NVIDIA Cuda drivers but the past few days the lag has returned. I'd say give it a few days before you get too excited it fixed it.

It fixed it for now, but it will most likely return like allways. The problem is that I have no clue how it fixed it and therefor no idea how to fix it again if (when) it happens.

Today I was again in an apple store and tested few machines. It really seems that every MBPr has the lag, so far this is fact. I also tested the MBPr 13 and I was surprised that despite having only the intel graphic card the macbook performed well. Surely it has lags too as its big brother but it seemed that the 13" performs better than the 15" considering the lag. So I had to open far more apps in a new desktop till the lag appeared. The 15" does need less desktops to get the lag. I think this has to do with the size of the display because more pixels have to be computed for the 15".

So his might drive some crazy, but I was reading macrumors that the 13 inch retina has already received a computer specific update for performance enhancement and bug fixes. If it is indeed working better than the 15 inch it's because apple has already updated the problem specifically on the 13 inch, no update announced for the 15 inch retina. This is rediculous.

Yes you're right. There is an update for MBPr 13", iMac 2012 and Mac mini 2012 with improved graphic performance.

Actually, there's already a rMBP 15" fix, but you can't apply it if your computer already had it preinstalled. What blows is you can't reapply the EFI/SMC updates for the 15" rMBP.  I SWEAR to the pit of my soul that if we can reapply the EFI/SMC fix, everything will be solved for the rMBP 15". ARE YOU LISTENING APPLE!!!????

Guys Guys, I dont now who you all are!!

I have been using my rMBP 15 for 2 month now.

    1) 95% of lags were fixed in 10.8.2 ( if you dont belive me tell me how to make a video on my mac to upload to youtube i will show you any scrolling any where besides SUPER GIANT timeline in facebook coz thats the only place where it can lag a bit but i never watch so many of timeline.

    2) I have LG Screen and i dont have any ghosting and trust me i watched it i left my pc for 3 hours with full brightness.

    3) I did replace my rMBP first week coz of very minor scratchy so little that they were laughing at me at the store.

So my thoughts that people crying here and you guys do cry i am tired of reading emails from here is just from people who!

    1) Can't get it right.

    2) They dont have this laptop at all.

    3) there just anti Apple people commming here to cry.

Thx for reading and i wish you all get your problems fixed as soon as possible.

Dude, no two computers are alike. I put my rMBP against my buddie's equally equipped rMBP and his scrolls smoothly, flawlessly. Mine scrolls chunks. We both ran Safari, Photoshop and iPhoto, and his clearly does the legendary inertia scroll, smooth gliding. I reinstalled OS X 10.8.2 five times and it still blows chunks. So don't get all cocky and call me, a 30 year Apple veteran, anti-Apple

Just record with your smartphone or quick time screen, see here http://etc.usf.edu/techease/4all/getting-started/creating-screen-recordings-with -quicktime-player/

I have uploaded a video on youtube which shows a huge laggy gui performance. This MBPr was alsa updated to 10.8.2. and has still lags. So do the same as I did on the video and be sure you will see the the lag.

Everyone here has the rmbp and I bet the majority have many more apple products so no one including myself is a apple hater but having had 4 rmbp computers not including my girlfriends - all of which have lag most excessive in safari scrolling and zooming is unacceptable. i think feircey2 is just trolling. If the models in the store are exhibiting the problem obviously this is not just some radom rare occurance.
