Nov 8, 2012 6:13 AM in response to Tom_Bateby Kevin808,When you say it lags month-to-month, are you talking about when you use two fingers to scroll and it initiates the page curl animation? Can someone upload a video of this? I'd like to see how bad it is.
For comparison, here is the page curl on my 2009 MBP:

There really isn't any Judder, but there aren't a whole lot of frames either. (In other words it's smooth with a low frame rate) How does the Retina compare?
Also, I have my laptop set to use the more powerful Discreet Graphics card which is obviosly not as good as the 650M in the Retina, but it's better than my on-board chip used for better battery life.

Nov 8, 2012 6:59 AM in response to Kevin808by Wozz666,Mine has same lag as others have pointed out & judders when 2 finger scrolling in graphical Safari sites such as www.news.com.au & Mail such as Crackle email newsletters that include movie thumbnails.
Switching to discrete only graphics (GT 650M) does not resolve. I have logged a job with Apple - escalated to Snr Tech who tested the news site when booted in safe mode & the page would not scroll at all, all graphics fickered.
Snr Tech said he hasn't come accross this prob before & he suspected the fault appeared to be hardware related rather than software. I told him the demo models at Perth Apple Store also suffered from this issue, so obtaining a replacement 15' rMBP may not resolve.
The Tech said such a problem in their new advanced models would be taken very seriously & undertook to further escalate - awaiting response (apparently within 24hrs).

Wozz666, did you show the tech this thread or any YouTube Vidoes? I think they know, they are just tight lipped about it.

Nov 8, 2012 7:43 AM in response to Kevin808by Wozz666,I mentioned this thread but he said he didn't follow it!
The tech sent me links to the following at my request:
PRAM & SMC reset - no effect.
EFI update 1.0 - "Alert - the software is not supported on your system"
EFI update 2.9 (latest) - same alert occurred. The tech thought this was due to the update having already been installed.

Nov 8, 2012 7:58 AM in response to Wozz666by Wayne Chin,As I mentioned earlier on this thread the engineers need to rewrite the SMC and EFI updates so that we can reapply them even if they're already installed. 9 times out of 10, a reflash of the firmware will resolve everything.

Nov 8, 2012 4:47 PM in response to Daydalausby Ahzari,Safari is still awful with scroll lag - did nothing for that.. overall UI never bothered me as much as Safari so I don't really notice a change - guess we'll see with time.
-
Nov 8, 2012 4:49 PM in response to Ahzariby TheWaveable,The update means that they at least know about the problem and are working on it.
