Mar 14, 2013 8:24 PM in response to dscielby Daydalaus,I updated to 10.8.3 hours ago and so far it has been good, I'm using power point, iTunes, Reeder and other stuff. Yesterday, using the same programs was really bad, but today I only notice some loosing animation frames with reeder (swithching to the space that has it on full screen), which have always caused me much trouble before.
I'm on the dedicated graphic card, Power point force the system to switch to It, but so far so good

Mar 14, 2013 8:33 PM in response to Lex1179by Wayne Chin,I will try wiping the drive one more time and reinstall 10.8.3 from scratch. If that doesn't show any improvement then it's hasta la vista

Mar 14, 2013 8:37 PM in response to Lex1179by cbs20,After both updates I definitely can see the UI is smoother, but only when using the dedicated graphics card. When using the integrated card the UI still lags a lot, but they did fix the popping audio problem that was happening with the integrated graphics. If anyone makes a trip to an Apple Store to complain about this let us know what they say because I was one of the many told by Applecare to wait for an update to fix this and I want to see what their response is to people complaining about this update not fixing the problem. I might schedule a genius appt next week to see what they say.

Mar 14, 2013 8:40 PM in response to dscielby Daydalaus,Still doing tests, with the 10.8.3 update my Mbpr shows much improvement, I still get a few missing frames missing on Mission control, but is almost never and now it doesn't make the computer slower.
I've been comparing safari with the last webkit build and both has almost the same speed, safary lagging a little bit, previous to the update safari was real mess. (specially with facebook and theverge)
I will try the same with the integrated graphic card

Mar 14, 2013 8:48 PM in response to Daydalausby Daydalaus,Yes, the integrated card has serious difficulties keeping up with the UI, but is much better after the 10.8.3 update than before (now it doesn't get stuck trying to show mission control)... I get the feeling like if deliberately the animations with this card has less frames than the animations with the Nvidia.
BTW I use GfxcardStatus to switch from one graphic card to the other

Mar 14, 2013 8:49 PM in response to dscielby roberto_sc,Isn't the lack of anything related to this problem or even to graphics on the update description evidence enough that they didn't do anything about this?

Mar 15, 2013 1:00 AM in response to roberto_scby ammiraglio,I remember the first month with tho rMBP... everything was perfect! One day, all problems appeared.
Now with 10.8.3 there is no improvement. Nothing. It's software, windows 8 runs flawlessy!
Tim, can you hear us?

Mar 15, 2013 1:06 AM in response to ammiraglioby Ahzari,No idea what you're talking about - I had the rMBP since it launched in July 2012 its been laggy from day one. I just kept holding out for a software update which the Apple reps kept promising. It's hardware, apple employs some of the best software ppl in san jose..
if there could have been a software fix for all this mess - we would have already seen it. the newest update is proof that even with months and months of testing they still could not get it right.

Mar 15, 2013 5:39 AM in response to Wayne Chinby cbs20,Hey Wayne any improvement with a clean install?
-
Mar 15, 2013 8:36 AM in response to cbs20by Wayne Chin,I downloaded the installer onto a USB stick and started up my rMBP from there. I completely repartitioned, zero'd the SSD which took all night and now I've reinstalled OS X 10.8.3.
I'm running it brand new, no time machine restore, nothing.
The result? Nothing. Absolutely no change whatsoever. My safari continues to scroll lag and Lego block, pinching images stutter and nothing smooth. The only thing running better is my battery life and, after downloading the latest 3D gaming demo "Heaven", I'm getting an average 10 frames more per second on game play. But seriously I'm not a gamer, I'm a graphic designer and I need this thing to run slick for my work.
It's been an absolute frustrating experience since buying this machine.
If apple says this is only happening to a very rare small group then a) why had this thread received so much attention and b) why can't they replace our machines with a properly tested, perfectly working machine before they send out a new one?

Mar 15, 2013 9:32 AM in response to Wayne Chinby cbs20,How is the UI lag (switching desktops and full screen apps, mission control)? I'm not too concerned about Safari lag since I use Webkit. Can you see a difference between integrated and discrete graphics?
